The highlight of the exhibit space will be a new state-of-the art 7D capsule theater that will take visitors on an exhilarating flight through the sky. This new exhibit experience will use a 3D aviation film, moving seats, and multi-sensory effects to create an unforgettable, educational, and exciting experience. The new look will take shape gradually between August and November and the hall will remain open during this time. The new Simulation Theater will be installed in early

Smithsonian and has been touring to select cities in North America.
Using innovative special effects, hands-on learning activities, video games, optical illusions and interactive displays, BRAIN shows how the brain functions and how, like other parts of the body, it can sometimes malfunction. This fascinating limited-engagement exhibit for all ages provides

MINERALS ROCK! Building Blocks of the Universe
Learn more about minerals in this beautiful and colorful exhibit that displays over 60 different types of minerals and rocks. Did you know minerals are the building blocks of the entire universe? The iron in hematite, in spinach and in our blood’s hemoglobin is all the same --- just like the calcium in sea shells, in milk and in our bones are all the same. Did you know some rocks glow in the dark? See pyrite or fool’s gold, opal, copper, malachite, halite, quartz, azurite, and sulfur, just to name a few! You will even be able to touch real lava and make a “volcano” erupt to see how new rocks and land masses are formed! The specimens in this display were provided by the Carol Jacobs Mineral and Ammonite Collection from the Broward College

Camp Discovery is going mad this week: mixing, measuring and making a mess!! We’ll be growing and shrinking eggs, making a soap soufflé, floating fireworks in a glass and creating electric cornstarch. You’ll discover how to make your soda invisible and how to make your milk explode with color. We’re mad… I tell you…. MAD!!!
OVERNIGHT CAMP-INS: Friday and Saturday evenings, year-round
Reserve a date to bring your group to the Museum for an exciting overnight educational adventure! Choose from these camp-in themes: Amazing Aviators , Awesome Animals, Cosmic
Kids, Chemical Concoctions, Glamour Girls, GUTS!, Jr. Geologists, Kitchen Chemistry, Mission
Space, Roller Coasters, Wildlife Wonders, World of Water . Supervised, age-appropriate science activities, workshops, exhibit explorations, pizza dinner and live-animal encounters round out a fun-filled evening before “lights-out” in the exhibit sleeping area. Group camp-ins are open to scout groups, schools, church groups, recreation center groups and other youth organizations looking for a night of fun and unique activities.
Each camp lasts from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. IMAX® films will be an additional charge per person (child or chaperone). Group programs require a 40 participant minimum. Both programs include pizza dinner, all activities, and exploration of the Museum

Mission: MODS – Cosmic Night Out: An Overnight Camp-In Adventure

Launch Time 6:30 p.m. Saturday; returning to Earth 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning
YOUR MISSION:

To spend the night at the Museum and investigate the new traveling exhibit - Black
Holes: Space Warps & Time Twists.
•
To play space-related games and participate in activities of an intergalactic kind listed below.
Step into our Planetarium and learn about constellations then grab a friend and create your own human constellation.
Make your own Roaring Rocket then test it with our stomp launchers or launch them from a spinning planet.
Pick your own Glow in the Dark activity, whether is making slime,a space craft or design your own ID bracelet.
It’s going to be a BLAST
!
Mission Fee is $40 per participant and includes the following:
• Spending the night at the Museum and exhibits exploration
• All Space activities listed above
• Pizza Dinner
Add the IMAX film Interstellar to your overnight adventure. (Additional fee per participant is

THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Planning a birthday party at the Museum of Discovery and Science is a piece of cake! Just say the word, and we’ll put the wheels in motion for a birthday party that your birthday child will always remember. Choose from an exciting selection of themes: Space Crusaders, Animal
Mania , Abracadabra Chemistry, Science Magic, Super Scientist, Living Dinosaurs and
Discovery Diva.
Party Options and Prices:

Pizza Party: Pizza, soda and cake for a maximum of 20 guests including birthday child and family members. $375 for members. $425 for non-members. $15 per additional person. Add-on options available.

Subway Party : Sub platter, chips and juice boxes for a maximum of 20 guests including birthday child and family members. $455 for museum members. $505 for non-members.

Birthday Party Themes:

Animal Mania (Ages 3-12): Snakes and alligators and lizards, oh my! Learn about the
Museum’s reptiles and even meet them face-to-face! It’s perfect for your “party animal.”

Dino-Mite (Ages 5 & up):
Are you ready to be a junior paleontologist for a day and have a Dino-Mite time? Go on a dinosaur dig and make “fossil dough” to take home!

Discovery Diva (Ages 5 & up): OMG! Is there more to makeup than sweet smells and sparkles? Of course, it’s SCIENCE! You and your BFFs will create your very own sparkly potions and scented lotions to take home.

Happy Burp-Day (Ages 5 & up):
Celebrate your birthday in a gross way! Conduct stomach turning experiments and take homemade “SNOT” home. This party is sure to be a gas!

Super Scientist (Age 5 & up): Put on your lab coat and be a scientist for a day! Conduct crazy experiments and make wild concoctions. Your birthday is sure to be an explosively good time!
MaxFlight BIRTHDAY PARTIES (Ages 5 & up)
Special times and pricing applies. Times are as follows: Fridays from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.; and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Pricing: $750 for Museum members and $800 for non-members.

 Rockin’ Roller Coaster
Imagine designing your own roller coaster and then riding it with your friends inside our
MaxFlight Simulator. It’ll be a rockin’ and rollin’ party to remember.

Awesome Aeronautics
Take off in this thrilling birthday ride of a lifetime. You and your friends can turn incredible aerial stunts or engage an aerial dog fight in our MaxFlight Simulator. Also enjoy time in the Aviation Station exhibit.
ABOUT THE AUTONATION® IMAX 3D THEATER
The AutoNation® IMAX 3D Theater, owned and operated by the Museum of Discovery and
Science, opened in 1992. The 300-seat theater is a showcase of state-of-the-art motion picture technology. In September 2014, the AutoNation® IMAX 3D Theater underwent an extensive renovation including a new giant screen (60 ft. x 80 ft.), new luxury seats, new powerful sound system and the addition of a digital projection system to complement our 15/70 film projector.
Our new dual IMAX projection system allows us to show both digital and 15/70 IMAX films and offer a more consistent flow of new Hollywood films in addition to our classic documentaries. The IMAX Experience® is an unparalleled fusion of sight and sound. Audiences will enjoy five-story high images of unsurpassed brilliance and clarity as they’re immersed in
32,000 watts of digital surround sound broadcast through 56 speakers.
And the special geometry of our theater makes you feel as though you're immersed in the action. You're just not seeing the movie --- you're part of it. ABOUT THE MUSEUM OF DISCOVERY AND SCIENCE
The mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science is to provide experiential pathways to lifelong learning in science for children and adults through exhibits, programs and films.
Founded in 1976 as The Discovery Center, the nonprofit facility serves approximately 450,000 visitors annually. Major operational support for the Museum is provided through generous support by Leadership Guild members including: Broward Health, JM Family Enterprises, Inc.,
Sun Sentinel and Wells Fargo.
The Museum is open seven days a week, 365 days a year; Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. General Admission prices are $19 for adults; $18 seniors; $15 children 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free. A General Admission Ticket includes admission to the Museum exhibits and one classic 45-minute IMAX movie. The Museum of
