EXHIBITION GUIDELINES AND CONDITIONS 2015.
1. Entry Fees
All works (including the challenge) $3 each. Fees to accompany the Nomination
Form and to be received by WEDNESDAY 19 AUGUST. Payment may be cash,
cheque, direct deposit (details on nomination form) or handed in at Mi Art.
2. Entries
Entries are limited to 10 paintings per financial member and must have been
completed in the last 12 months. Entries may be submitted in any of the following
categories.
ORIGINAL: Artist’s own original reference material – NO TUITION ASSISTANCE.
All Challenge entries must be original.
COPIED: Reference material from other artist or photographer, including
paintings copied from ‘Australian Artist’ or any other publication. Credit to be
given to the original artist’s name on the reverse side. A Copyright Guidelines
Reference Folder is available in the clubroom.
WORKSHOP: Started and/or completed under any tuition at all.
5. Size
Of the 10 paintings allowed per person no more than 2 may be the maximum size.
The maximum size of each painting shall not exceed 1.2 sq metres including the
frame.
6. Framing
Paintings must be suitably framed and wired with ‘D’ rings and ready to hang.
Wet paint will not be accepted. Stretched canvases will be accepted unframed on
the condition that staples are at the back and the painting is continued around all
four sides.
7. Delivery
Paintings can be delivered to the Walter Reid Gallery on the following
days/times. Monday 24 August 8:30am to 12:30pm and Tuesday 25 August
9:30am and 4:00pm.
If unable to deliver on either of those days then artwork may be left in the
‘Upstairs Gallery’ prior to Monday 24 August.
The use of packaging particularly for work left in the ‘Upstairs Gallery’ is strongly
recommended. Please name all packaging for return at the conclusion of the
exhibition.
Entries must NOT have been previously exhibited at any previous annual RQAS
exhibition.
8. Sales
PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS do not qualify and will not be hung.
The RQAS Rockhampton Branch Inc. will retain 12%of sales (10% will go the
RRC)
3. Acceptance
Your acceptance of Exhibition Guidelines and Conditions will be confirmed by
your signature on the Nomination Form which must be received by the Hanging
Committee.
4. Identification
All works must have the artist’s name, painting title, medium and selling price
neatly printed on the labels provided.
9. Roster
All participants are required to do a minimum of two (2) rosters (unless given
automatic exclusion). If unable to do a roster than the participant is obligated to
find a replacement.
10. People’s Choice
To be awarded on Sunday 6 September at 3:30pm. Only votes that contain the
voter’s name are eligible to be counted.
11. Liability
The Hanging Committee and any of its agents will exercise all reasonable care
with submitted works, but will not be responsible for loss of, or damage to any
works while in their custody or transit. Each entrant is responsible for insuring
their own works.
15. Disputes
Should any dispute arise for which no specific ruling has been laid down, the
matter shall be determined by the RQAS Rockhampton Branch Inc. Committee.
12. Hanging
The Hanging Committee and any of its agents will endeavour to hang paintings
with regard to an even distribution of artists; while creating a pleasing balance as
far as size, shape and genre will allow. All challenge paintings will be grouped
together.
13. Publicity
The RQAS Rockhampton Branch reserves the right to allow photographs for
reproduction in the media and for publicity purposes and shall not be liable to pay
any fee, royalty, commission or any other remuneration to any exhibitor for such
rights. All entries will be photographed by the club as a visual record of the
exhibition. Photographing the paintings by the general public will not be allowed.
14. Collection of Exhibits
Paintings are to remain on display for the duration of the exhibition with only
one exception. If a painting is sold to someone from outside the region it may
be taken home at time of purchase. In that instance the member on duty may
use their discretion to fill the space with another painting by the same artist, a
similar size painting by another or just leave the space empty with a sold sign
there.
All unsold artwork must remain on display until after the announcement of the
People’s Choice Winner at 3:30pm on Sunday September 6.
All members are responsible for removing their paintings from the Gallery. If
you cannot be there to collect yours then you must arrange for another member
or person to fill in this includes work that has to be taken to the ‘Upstairs
Gallery’.
CHALLENGE COMPETITION RULES
One entry per person.
Must be original.
Must conform to the Australian Miniature Rules and be NO LARGER THAN 100
sq. centimetres. E.g. 10cm x 10cm, or 9cm x 11cm, or 8 x 12 or 7.5 x 13cm etc.
Can be any medium.
Frame can be any size.
