JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:
Senior Statistician
Reporting To:
Professor Nynke van den Broek
Main Responsibilities:
Statistics Service
 Organise a monthly statistical clinic and provide other statistical support activities to CMNH
research staff, including the provision of advice to researchers on aspects of study design
and analysis, preparation of grant applications and scientific publications. This will include
regular project review sessions with CMNH PhD students

Mentor non-statistical researchers with regard to basic statistical methodology

Perform statistical quality assurance review and validation for CMNH projects.

Formulate statistical methodology and statistical analysis plans for designated clinical
studies and trials

Perform statistical analyses of data and interpret results to ensure validity of conclusions
for designated studies.

Assist in production of statistical reports/sections for peer-reviewed publication
Data management
 Liaise with Head of M&E as necessary to ensure that datasets are usable.

To assist the Head of M&E and Data Manager in the review and oversight of database
management activities;

To assist and support the Data Manager in the introduction and updating of Standard
Operating Procedures for data processing and statistical matters as necessary.
Research
 Undertake high quality research in applied biostatistics linked to the research strategy of
LSTM and CMNH through research collaborations with CMNH researchers and others.

Foster collaborative research links both within LSTM and with other academic institutions,
both nationally and internationally.

Maintain a strong record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Teaching

Deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials as part of the CMNH teaching programme.

To assist in the training of Research Assistants in data summary skills.
