Plans for Boyle for the week of August 19th, 2013
Monday
Follow Schedule provided, put away supplies, assign textbooks, introductions, review class
schedule
Tuesday
1st hour- 6-2 Literature- Get textbooks for both Reading and Language for students from closet.
Take a moment to look at textbooks and discuss how they will be left in the room. Assign
netbook numbers for 6-2. Literature text 340 to 342. Discuss summary box first on page 341
before reading the article. Demonstrate how we would write and send a summary assignment
in class. Discuss main idea/supporting details/discussing the text in your answer/spell check,
etc.
2nd hour- 6-2 Language Arts- Begin discussing narrative writing. Go over Language text pages 12
through 15 to discuss descriptions/more descriptive sentences/words. Read pages 525 to 529
and discuss narratives. (go over synonyms)
3rd hour- P.E. in the gym
4th hour- (6-2 to Math) 6-1 Literature- see 6-2
5th hour- (6-2 Science) 6-1 Language Arts- see 6-2
6th hour- Lunch/students will go to the gym and sit in assigned spots from the morning
7th hour- (Encore all students) 6-3 will come in here for Encore. Discuss what they have done in
5th hour and review summaries.
8th hour- (6-2 Social Studies with Miss Starman) 6-1 Social Studies- Article 236 to 240 to review
summarizing. Write one together.
Wednesday
1st and 2nd hour- 6-2 Reading and Language- Discuss assignment notebooks/revisit dismissal
procedures/and proper behavior in the hallway. From Tuesday, do Language assignment.
Language text 12 through 15. Discuss and discuss descriptions. Do description activity about
walking on a path…share. I walked out my front door and saw a path. It looked… As I continued
along I saw… Do synonym activity and discuss using a thesaurus. Read pages 525 through 529
in Language text and look for strong verbs/strong descriptions.
3rd hour- PE
4th and 5th hour- see 6-2
6th hour- lunch
7th hour- 6-3 Do pages 12 to 15 with them in Language text. Discuss descriptions/do synonyms
activity.
8th hour- 6-1 Do another synonym activity with them. Finish any activities from 4th and 5th
hours. Switch back classes at 1:10.
Thursday
1st and 2nd hours- 6-2 Finish up any work from Wednesday… Do extended response story and
sample extended response together. Students will need crayons to underline on sample page.
Discuss the idea of evidence/support for your answer.
Continue description activity from yesterday…listen to more volunteers from path example. Do
five different picture/description activities. A different one at each group.
3rd- PE
4th and 5th hours- see 6-2
6th hour- Lunch
7th hour- Do extended response activity, see 6-2.
8th hour- Do types of sentences worksheets 4 and 5. Write five declarative sentences describing
your picture card. Share…
Friday
1st and 2nd hours- 6-2 Listen to the short story “On the Bottom” read aloud by Mrs. Boyle.
Together we will go over Narrative plot structure, and write summary for this story.
3rd hour- PE
4th and 5th hours- see 6-2
6th hour- lunch
7th hour- Go over Narrative plot structure, and summaries again from the story we read
yesterday “The River” when we went over extended response.
8th hour- Sentence types- worksheet page 6 to review. Share… Take time to address concerns
from the first week.
