CURRICULUM: Content will be TEKS aligned, with emphasis on preparing teachers for "Celebrate Freedom Week."
ELIGIBILITY: The workshop is open to all middle and high school social studies teachers. Priority consideration will be given to
early career teachers in low-performing schools or districts.
SUBSTITUTES, TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENTS, AND CPE CREDITS: The workshop is free to teachers and their schools. Humanities Texas
will reimburse schools $80 to cover the cost of a substitute for any teacher who attends. Teachers traveling more than 25 miles
one-way to the workshop location will be reimbursed for approved travel costs up to $100. This may include gas mileage
(reimbursed at 55.5 cents per mile), lodging for one night, and meals in transit. (Receipts required for all costs excluding gas.
Itemized receipts required for food. Alcoholic beverages will not be reimbursed.) Participants will receive CPE hours and may
be eligible to receive GT credit, depending on district standards. CPE hours will be adjusted if a teacher misses any portion of
the program.
HOW TO APPLY: Submit this form along with a one-paragraph biography as soon as possible, as registration will occur on a
rolling basis and space is limited. Following receipt of your application, Humanities Texas will contact you by email to let you
know if space is available and to provide you with important information about the event.
Humanities Texas will send a press release about the workshop to your local paper should you attend. By submitting this
application, you authorize Humanities Texas to share your contact information with members of the press who may wish to
contact you for further information.
