GUIDELINES and PREPARATION of
Electronic / Digital Poster Presentations
Poster presentations provide an opportunity for Conference delegates to become acquainted with your special project, scientific
research or study analysis quickly and easily. Your objective is to present the "bare bones" of your subject in graphic, tabular,
chart or pictorial form so as to engage the interest of passerby’s who might then wish to discuss your work in detail.
A Digital Poster is an Oral presentation, in an alternative setting. This format allows for much broader viewing possibilities,
providing a unique way of presenting your scientific research. In addition, the electronic poster display will provide you the high
advantage of personal, one-on-one interaction for the duration of the Conference. This allows for an enhanced networking
environment and encourages all parties to converse directly and freely.
Format
Electronic posters will be accepted in PDF format only using the supplied OPC-2015 PowerPoint template.
Size
Electronic posters can be no larger than 20MB in size. All original source files such as video or audio clips can be no longer
than two minutes each. (Please ensure that the video or audio clip is embedded onto the PDF file)
Slide limit
The maximum number of slides per submission is ONE.
Requirements

English is the Conference language. All Digital Posters must be in English.

Presentations should be Pictorial and Text should be limited to what is necessary. Photos, illustrations, and
charts are encouraged and can be individually arranged to make your point.

Include text and graphics which best emphasizes or interprets the key points of your presentation.

Rules on commercialism are not as strictly enforced in the poster presentations as they are in the oral presentations.
You may display your company logo and/or otherwise your affiliation discretely – however please use good taste
since this is not to be an advertisement.

Save your presentation as the reference number assigned to your paper along with your last (family) name.

PDF presentations should be submitted prior to arriving to the Conference.

Onsite replacements will be accepted upon your arrival and must be in the proper format for replacement.
Images



JPEG/PNG is the preferred file format.
Images should be inserted from the slide using the “insert/picture/from file” command.
Please ensure that your images fit inside the containing slide. You may have to resize them.
Font


For cross platform compatibility use fonts such as Arial. Best visual size is minimum 14 pt.
Proof-read and spell-check your presentation.
Color

Choose color combinations that make your text easy to read such as:
o Light backgrounds (white, yellow, light blue) with dark fonts (black, navy blue, dark green).
o Dark backgrounds (blue, purple) with light fonts (white, yellow, cyan).
o Avoid using red or green in any fonts or backgrounds as they are colors that are difficult to read.
Movies and Sound
 Embedded video/movies and sounds are supported in the following formats: VIDEO - AVI, WMV and MPG. AUDIO WMA and WAV. You will have to use software such as Adobe Acrobat to embed these files so that they will play
properly after your ppt is saved in pdf format.

TIPS and ADDITIONAL INFORMATION of
Electronic / Digital Poster Presentations
Keep it simple and avoid arty or overly ornate presentations. Block coloring can be useful to add emphasis and clarity.
An effective poster presentation

Has charts/tables/pictures that can be comprehended in 1-2 minutes of viewing time. Indicate by number, letters or arrows
a preferred sequence that might be followed in studying your material. These details will be judged.

Uses enhancing techniques to emphasize the important data in tables - e.g. different colors of type, or other attentiongetting devices.

Do not try to cram everything into a poster presentation that you would include in an oral presentation. Remember that
your viewers are distracted by conversation and the passage of other viewers. They are looking for interesting poster
presentations to return to for closer examination.
Best Poster Presentation Award
All presentations will be reviewed and judged by members of the Awards Committee and, likewise, eligible for an award.
