question.

The ballot question, referred to the voters by the Aurora City Council, is:
“Shall Section 3-7 of the Aurora City Charter be amended to increase the period of time within
which a vacancy on the City Council must be filled from the current 30 days to 45 days after such
vacancy occurs?”
HOW DO I VOTE IN THIS ELECTION?
All registered electors in Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas counties will receive ballots in the mail
beginning the week of October 14. If you do not wish to vote your mail ballot, you may relinquish it at any
of a number of voter service and polling centers established by the county clerks in each county.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM REGISTERED?
You can check to see if you are registered at www.govotecolorado.com or you can contact the county

WHAT IF I AM NOT REGISTERED? CAN I STILL VOTE IN THIS ELECTION?
A new law allows people who have resided in the state for twenty-two (22) days prior to the date of the
election to register to vote up to and including election day in the following manner:
Registration by mail
October 15 deadline
Registration online
October 28 deadline
Registration in person November 5 deadline (at clerk and recorder offices and voter service and
polling centers only)
IF I AM OUT OF TOWN ON ELECTION DAY, CAN I STILL VOTE?
If you received your ballot in the mail, vote and return it before you leave town. If you’re going to be out of
town when the ballots are mailed, you can apply for an absentee ballot to be sent to the address where
you’ll be. Absentee ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on November 5.
CAN I VOTE EARLY?
Yes. If you choose not to cast your mail ballot, you can relinquish it and cast your ballot on a voting
machine at a voter service and polling center established by the county clerk and recorders. Check with
your county clerk for locations, dates, and times of operation of these centers.
WHAT IF I MAKE A MISTAKE ON MY MAIL BALLOT?
You can get a replacement ballot at one of your county’s voter service and polling centers.
WHAT IF I DIDN’T RECEIVE A MAIL BALLOT?
You can get a replacement ballot at one of your county’s voter service and polling centers. Please note
that one of the reasons you didn’t receive a mail ballot is that you are not properly registered. In other
words, you may have moved and neglected to change your voter registration address. Mail ballots are
not forwarded to your new address by the postal service. You can change your address and obtain a
mail ballot at a voter service and polling center.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR RETURNING MY MAIL BALLOT?
All mail ballots must be received in the office of the county clerk or at one of the mail ballot drop-off
locations by 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5. Ballots with a November 5 postmark and received after
that date will not be counted.
DO I HAVE TO MAIL BACK MY BALLOT?
No, you can also return it in person. The Aurora City Clerk’s office is one of several mail ballot drop-off
locations where you can return your ballot. The City Clerk’s office is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. and on election day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The office will also be open on Saturday,
November 2, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to receive ballots from Adams and Arapahoe counties.
Additionally, the City of Aurora will once again provide a drive-through mail ballot drop off location at the
Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on November 5.
DO I NEED ANY IDENTIFICATION TO VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT?
If you registered by mail or online and you are voting for the first time in Colorado, you may be required to
include a copy of your driver’s license or other photo ID. Instructions can be found with your mail ballot.
DO I NEED ANY IDENTIFICATION TO VOTE IN PERSON AT A VOTER SERVICE AND POLLING
CENTER?
Yes. The most common forms of identification are a Colorado driver’s license, a Colorado identification
card or a current utility bill showing your name and address.
