Very good
Everything that you write is relevant to the task description/title and you go beyond the basic
expectation. Your ideas are “joined up” and everything links together in a logical structure. You include
paragraphs and have a variety of sentence structures from simple to complex/compound. There is a
variety of descriptive language and your ideas are clear to the reader.
Good
You cover the points of the task although there is nothing out of the ordinary, i.e. it is very “safe”.
Most of the information is clear to the reader, although sometimes there is a little confusion. The
structure is good although not everything flows naturally. Writing is overly descriptive and does not
analyse and give enough opinion.
Sufficient
Most of what you write relates to the task but you could have included more details to expand your
ideas. Your sentences are often short and could have had more variety in length and complexity. Most
of the information is clear to the reader although some confusion is evident. Opinions are expressed
about basic ideas.
Limited
Your response is quite short and does not always respond to the task title. The structure is weak and
written in continuous prose instead of using paragraphs. Not all of the points mentioned give enough
detail and what you have written is not very clear to the reader. There is some development of very
basic ideas.
Poor
The length of the piece of writing is far too short and you probably have not answered the question
well enough. There is little/no evidence of paragraphs and a sensible structure for the reader to
follow. The information often does not fit the title and therefore you have not followed
advice/instructions clearly.
What you have written has no relevance to the task title and your language is not understandable to
the reader.
No relevant content does not allow you to gain any marks for the language that you have
included.
Range of language
You have included a large variety of different structures in your writing and they are usually
accurate. The following linguistic points are likely to have appeared: conjunctions (y, pero etc.), modal
verbs (querer, poder, deber, saber + infinitive), more complex opinions (diría que …), si clauses, acabar

de, antes/después de, a variety of tenses (usually 4+), longer sentences, opinions in tenses other than
the present. Your use of language often goes beyond basic expectations of the tasks and might “show
off”.

To improve, I need to:
Focus on answering all parts of the question CLEARLY.
Develop my answers by justifying my points of view and link ideas.
Structure my answer so my writing flows well, i.e. use paragraphs.
Increase the number of different structures that I use to avoid repeating the same ones. Perhaps I need
to use my notes/book more wisely.
Ensure I use a wider selection of words (broaden my vocabulary).
Check my work thoroughly for grammatical errors.
