developing grant writing initiatives in
line with other organizational
development efforts; conducting
research, planning and budgeting;
and understanding the essential
elements of proposal development.
President James D. Evans and vice presidents Jann
Weitzel and Jerry Bladdick welcomed the university’s
historic first group of undergraduate day students in
Belleville. After remarks from administrators, each
Lindenwood employee at the Belleville campus
“adopted” a group of students and offered them a
Lindenwood pin, and the students later pinned one
another. Bladdick told students to keep the pins in
anticipation of wearing them on their regalia when they
become Lindenwood’s first graduating class from the
daytime Belleville campus.
On Campus
After the convocation ceremony, everyone gathered
outside for the ceremonial planting of a Linden tree.
To find out more about this workshop

Keith “Feetz” Fietsam Scholarship Day at
Busch Stadium
Stay Connected
Let us Hear from You
Join Lindenwood
University, friends, and
family of alumnus Keith
Fietsam as we celebrate
Fietsam Day at the
ballpark. Enjoy the last St.
Louis Cardinal’s home
game of the regular season
on Sunday, October 4, at
1:15 p.m., as we honor the
memory of Keith Fietsam.
Keith Fietsam was a 2003 undergraduate with a B.S. in
Human Resources and a 2005 graduate with an M.S.
in Human Resources. Keith brought his faith in God,
life, energy, and intelligence to the classroom, his
fellow students, and to the game of baseball. He
played and coached the sport throughout his career at
Lindenwood and beyond. On campus, Keith was
instrumental in spearheading sport activities; he was a
young man who enjoyed meeting and getting to know
those around him both at the University and in the
community.
His wife, Katie Fietsam (’06), has established a
scholarship to honor his memory and to bring worthy
student athletes to study and play the sport of baseball
at Lindenwood University. In addition, the Keith
Fietsam Scholarship Fund has sponsored this day at
the ballpark, tickets are $30 and proceeds go to benefit
the scholarship fund. To purchase tickets, please email
keithfietsamscholarshipfund@gmail.com.
Lindenwood Psychology Department Seeks
Volunteers
Lindenwood University is proud to host the Fifth Annual
Missouri Undergraduate Psychology Conference
(MUPC) on Friday, November 6th and Saturday
November 7th, in the Spellmann Center
(www.lindenwood.edu/mupc). Lindenwood is the third
host institution for this relatively new conference; the
past two hosts, Avila University and Northwest Missouri
State University are both in the west end of the state,
and we are excited to bring the conference to
Lindenwood to attract our east-side neighbors to this
conference. Lindenwood has already contributed to the
growth of the conference by introducing a new
conference mascot and by hosting the conference on
two days rather than one as in past years.
Lindenwood psychology majors have been presenting
their original research projects at past MUPC
conferences and many have received awards for their
