-Science Fair Rubric (Judging Sheet)
*Remember, a science fair project follows the scientific method; it is
not just an experiment or a demonstration.
RESTRICTIONS:
EXHIBIT SIZE: *Projects must not exceed the size requirements

The following items may not be displayed at the fair:
Animals
NOTE: Because of the many issues involved with animal experimentation, projects
involving the use of vertebrate animals are strongly discouraged. Any project involving
vertebrates must follow proper protocol for animal research. No animals may be
harmed or destroyed for your project. The captivity of wild animals is not permitted.
Senior projects involving animals must include ISEF forms.

WRITE YOUR REPORT—Write about 5 paragraphs. Make sure to include your
question, hypothesis, and results. Here are some sentence starters.
-My science fair project is about____. (Purpose)
-My research said___.
-My guess was ____. (Hypothesis)
-I tested it by____. (Short summary of experiment)
-I learned____. (Conclusion)
Design your Science Fair Board- (Computer generated information is
best.)
Include on Science Fair Board:
1. Title- Come up with something that will grab attention
2. Purpose/Question
3. Hypothesis
4. Material List
5. Step by Step Procedure of Experiment
6. Controlled Variables (Things that stay the same.)
7. Independent Variable (One thing that was different.)
8. Control Sample (Nothing manipulated.) *Not all experiments will have this.
9. Results (Include charts, graphs, and photos.)
10. Conclusion
11. Real Life Application
12. *Report (Do not put this ON your board.)
13. *Make sure you include your science journal with your
science fair board.
*These things go with your board, not on it.
Things to Remember:
-Mention your research in the Purpose and in your report.
-Follow size requirements
-Use metrics
-Include charts and graphs
-Type all information if possible--Use a clear font
-Use spell-check
-Make the display look clean, clear and orderly
-Make your display stand out--Use appropriate colors
-At the fair, you may want to display some of the equipment you used in the
experiment. *See science fair rules. Some things like mold and food are not
allowed.
-Place report and science journal by your board
