Little Red Corvette
This song is one of the best songs ever written by Prince; in this piece you have a Minneapolis
sound, a hybrid mixture of funk, rock, Pop and new wave.
The beginning of the song starts with a very soft melody and soft beat with the synthesizer and
light drums, and beat starts to pick up with the entrance of the backup vocals.
As you listen to this piece He uses the Chords C, D EM and G in all the verses
First 0-22 seconds- The synthesizer and drums are slow and introduced and it begins to fad in
louder and louder.
(23 seconds) Prince starts to sing solo with the instrumentation continuing. The instrumental
section is based on the B section and the B sections are made up of a four-bar phrase that is
repeated.
55-130 seconds - Prince and the back ground singers start to sing together and you can hear the
drums, symbols, trumpets, saxophones and it continues for over a minute. And the same lyrics
continue throughout the song but are varied and drop out at times.
2 minutes- Prince plays a solo performance on his guitar, and continues with the entire vocal
backup singers introducing the same warm tone fading at moments and then getting louder.
This entire piece is written by Prince and all the instruments are also played by Prince Featuring
an electronic organ. All of the verses are repeated over and over with the C, D and G chords
until the end of the piece. The drums continue to play a strong beat throughout the entire song.
The C section is eight bars long and the D section is sixteen bars long. The tempo is
approximately 126 beats per minute, with four beats in each bar.
