ACADEMIC RESOURCE LIST
Undergraduate Advising
Students on academic deficient status may be denied readmission by their departments. If that happens a
student may apply for readmission to the Undergraduate Advising Office on a temporary basis as an
undecided student. The Undergraduate Advising Office has dedicated full-time advisors to assist
students in turning around their academic status; they offer resources and guidance on success. The goal
is to increase the students’ GPAs so that they may apply for readmission to the department.


On-Track Academic Success Program
The On-Track Academic Success Program is aimed at increasing at-risk students’ academic and
personal success. On-Track accomplishes this through refining student’s study skills, self management
skills, and knowledge of campus resources and by facilitating the formation of stronger relationships
with professors, classmates, and other sources of support. Participants engage in the program through
seminars, one-on-one meetings, and supplemental activities tailored to a student's specific needs.
On-Track is a small time commitment, taking only 12-15 hours throughout the course of the entire
semester. Seminars are roughly an hour each. One-on-one or group meetings take about half an hour a
piece. Each participant is encouraged to complete up to 3 hours of prescribed activities. Because the
time commitment is so small, attendance is crucial at each event.


LASSI (Learning and Study Strategies Inventory)
The LASSI is an online learning and study strategies assessment. The LASSI is both diagnostic and
prescriptive. It provides students with a diagnosis of their strengths and weaknesses, compared to other
college students, in the areas covered by the 10 scales and it is prescriptive in that it provides feedback
about areas where students may be weak and need to improve their knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and
skills.

LEAD (Learning Enhancement Across Disciplines)
The Learning Enhancement Across Disciplines (LEAD) Program provides learning forums to students
who wish to increase their understanding, improve their skills, and validate their mastery of concepts
and content in a wide variety of foundational courses to achieve their full potential. Student-oriented
Learning Centers are staffed by discipline-based faculty and accomplished undergraduate peer learning
assistants who guide students in the learning process within an atmosphere of cooperative engagement
and teamwork. Drop-in peer tutoring is also provided for students who are more responsive to
individualized, small-group learning environments. The LEAD Program at the Missouri University of
Science and Technology actively promotes the Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate
Education. http://lead.mst.edu/index.html
