ARTICULATION AGREEMENT
for transfer of credits between
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Bachelor of Science in Social Work Degree
and the
Northcentral Technical College (NTC) Human Services Associate of Applied Science
Degree (AODA Track)
Effective Dates: July 2012-June 2017
Review Date: January 2017
Introduction and Rationale:
The University of Wisconsin-Superior maintains an educational partnership with
Northcentral Technical College (NTC) to provide opportunities for students to enter
bachelor’s degree completion programs. In the interest of fostering cooperation
between our institutions, and to better serve the transfer of students from NTC to the
University of Wisconsin-Superior, the faculty and administration of our institutions have
established this articulation agreement.
This Agreement specifies the transfer of credit from the NTC Human Services Associate
of Applied Science Degree-AODA Track named above to the UW-S Bachelor’s Degree
named above in recognition that the NTC program prepares students for the admission
to this Bachelor’s degree program. The underlying assumption for this Agreement is
that NTC provides a foundation of coursework and the University provides the upperlevel courses required within the Bachelor’s degree program.
NTC students who successfully complete the NTC Associate of Applied Science degree
named above and wishing to transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Superior will be
awarded the following credits toward a Bachelor of Science Social Work Degree.

Requirements and Considerations:
Students from NTC must have completed the above-named program with a cumulative
grade point average of at least 2.3/4.0 for consideration for transfer under the terms of
this document.
NTC general education/breadth courses in communications, social sciences,
mathematics and natural science may transfer in to fulfill UW-Superior general
education requirements in these areas. All UW-Superior general education core and
knowledge category requirements not met by transfer credits must be completed.
The minimum credits from the human services program track named above (NTC)
which may be transferred in as listed above and counted towards the social work
degree is 33. No more than 72 credits total may transfer in to UWS.
Other credits from NTC may come in as credits toward graduation, but do not fit
in a particular category in relation to the social work degree.
Elective courses taken at NTC which are not listed in this agreement will be reviewed by
the faculty of the UW-Superior degree program named above on a case by case basis.
Sixty-four to sixty-five (64-65) total credits are required to complete the Social Work
Comprehensive Major for the bachelor’s degree named above.
Students are required to apply to be accepted into the Social Work Major by filing an
application with an academic advisor before entering SO W 340 Methods of Practice I,
and SO W 341 Methods of Practice II, and SO W 344 HBSE I. In addition to submitting
the application, students must demonstrate suitability and capacity to enter the
profession of social work according to Admission/Continuation Competencies listed in
the "Social Work Student Handbook” and meet with an admissions committee as a part
of the admission process.
Students must maintain a 2.5/4.0 grade point average in upper division courses and are
required to complete a final internship and capstone senior research project to be
eligible for the bachelor’s degree named above.
In order to be awarded a degree from UW-Superior, students are required to earn:
 120 total credits to complete the bachelor’s degree named above
 at least 30 credits at UW-Superior
 at least 36 credits in upper-division courses (300-400 level), and

Conditions:
The terms of this articulation agreement apply only for the purposes of entry to the
Bachelor of Social Work Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. NTC students
seeking admission to other degree programs offered at UW-Superior may transfer to the
University only those credits recognized under the current UW System-Transfer
Guidelines as documented on the Transfer Information System web site at
http://www.uwsa.edu/tis/.
This agreement is limited to University requirements for completion of a Bachelor’s
degree only. Students seeking certification for licensure in particular fields must
complete any additional requirements for such certification.
