REGULATIONS FOR THE POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME IN
GLOBAL MEDIA AND CULTURAL INDUSTRIES MA
Academic Year 2011-12
These Programme Regulations apply to the conduct of the programme in the 20112012 session and should be read in conjunction with University Regulation XXI and
the relevant Module Specifications. These Programme Regulations may be subject to
change from time to time. Notice of change will be given by the Department
responsible for the programme.
STRUCTURE
1.
The Programme is the responsibility of the Department of Social Sciences.
2.
The Programme leads to the award of MA/MA with Distinction, PGDip/PGDip with
Distinction, or PGCert/PGCert with Distinction.
3.
The minimum period of study for the award of MA is one calendar year full-time.

ASSESSMENT
5.1
Each module in the programme will be assessed, and credit will be awarded, in
accordance with the levels of achievement specified in Regulation XXI.
5.2
In accordance with Regulation XXI, but with the exclusion of module SSP398
(Dissertation), candidates who have a right of reassessment in a module may choose
to be reassessed in the Special Assessment Period.
AWARDS: SPECIFIC PROGRAMME PROVISIONS
As provided for in Regulation XXI, candidates are required to obtain the following in order to
be eligible for an award:
6.1
To be eligible for the award of PGCert, candidates must fulfil the requirements
specified in Regulation XXI.
6.2
To be eligible for the award of PGDip, candidates must fulfil the requirements specified
in Regulation XXI.
6.3
To be eligible for the award of MA candidates must accumulate at least 160 credits
and achieve a minimum of 40% in the remaining module.
6.4
To be eligible for an award with Distinction candidates must fulfil the requirements
specified in Regulation XXI.
