HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley Hosts Ribbon Cutting for New
Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center
Westwood, NJ – HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley recently reopened the long awaited Cardiac
& Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center. On March 4th, 2015, CEO Mark Sparta joined Mayor John
Birkner, Paul Kappelman of LHP Hospital Group, physicians and local community members to
commemorate the official opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“We are so pleased to bring this much needed service back to the residents of the Pascack and
Northern Valley Communities,” said Mark Sparta, acting CEO of HackensackUMC at Pascack
Valley. “The community has requested the reopening of the Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation
program continuously over the last few years and it’s our privilege to be able to provide this
service to them. The proximity and location of the center is ideal for local residents and with
the support of the Hackensack University Health Network, we’ve been able to help patients
who have had a higher level of care at the main campus.”
The Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center at HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley is a state
of-the-art facility located right in the heart of the Pascack Valley. The program is tailored to
meet the patient’s individual needs and goals and support patients with different stages of
heart disease. It promotes heart health and healthy lifestyle changes through supervised
exercise and education including maintaining a healthy weight, heart healthy eating, and better
monitoring of lipids and cholesterol to get patents back on track and focused on their heart
health.
Each patient who participates in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program will receive an
individualized and personalized treatment plan, including evaluation and instruction on physical
activity, nutrition, and stress management. Pulmonary Rehabilitation helps patients improve
the quality of their life. Although Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) can't cure lung disease, it can
help the patient make the most of the limited lung function you have.
The Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center is located at 250 Old Hook Road, Westwood, NJ
on the second floor. For more information, call 201-383-1035 or visit
