Morning Arrival at Florence airport 
Transfer to hotel and check in

Intermezzo Travel Orientation Meeting

Guided Tour of Florence including the Duomo, the Baptistery, Piazza della
Signoria, Santa Maria Novella Basilica (including entrance fees) and Santa Croce
Basilica (including entrance fees).

Welcome Dinner at local restaurant
Typical Menu: Italian starter composed of mixed hot bruschetta and cold cuts,
Puttanesca fusilli (pasta with sauce with tomato, olives, capers and oregano),
Tuscan Ribollita, Escalope with tomato, olives and mushrooms, seasonal salted
vegetables, fresh fruit salad with ice cream

Overnight at hotel in Florence
Sunday: October 19th - Florence
Today's Highlights:

Breakfast at hotel

Mass at the Cathedral

Visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia (entrance fees included) to see
Michaelangelo's David and other works of art.

Lunch at leisure

Tour of the Uffizzi Museum (entrance fees included)

Taste of Florence Dinner Walk - including several establishments for small plates
and wine/nonalcoholic beverage at each stop.

Overnight at hotel in Florence
Monday: October 20th - Tuscany & the Chianti Region
Today's Highlights:

Breakfast at hotel

Transfer to and guided tour of the famous hill town of San Gimignano, known for
its Medieval and Gothic architecture.

Transfer to Fattoria Montagliari or similar, producer of wines, olive oil and
balsamic vinegar

Outdoor Mass at the vineyard and tour and tastings at Fattoria Montagliari,
followed by special dinner at vineyard including wine

Transfer back to Florence. Overnight in Florence.
Tuesday: October 21st –Assisi & Umbria
Today's Highlights:

Breakfast at hotel and Check-out

Transfer to Assisi

Guided tour of Assisi and Basilica of Saint Francis

Lunch at leisure

Guided tours of the Basilica Santa Maria Degli Angeli, Eremo di Carceri and the
Monastery of St. Damien

Depart for Rome

Dinner in Rome near the hotel
Typical Menù: Risotto with chicory, pork loin with herbs and mixed salad, panna
cotta

Late evening check-in at hotel in Rome. Overnight in Rome.
Wednesday: October 22nd - The Vatican & Sistine Chapel

Transfer to the Vatican

Papal Audience (if Pope is in residence)

Guided Tour of St. Peter's Basilica (entrance fees included)


Guided tour of Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel (entrance fees included)

Typical Menù: Penne alla carbonara, escalope with wine and peas, chocolate dessert


Thursday: October 23rd - Rome's Piazza's and Fountains, Ancient Rome &
Trastevere
Today's Highlights:

Breakfast at hotel

Walking tour of Roman piazza's and fountains, including Campo dei Fiore,
Piazza Navona, Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish
Steps and Pizza del Popolo.

Lunch at leisure

Guided tour of Ancient Rome, including the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and
the Pantheon (entrance fees included)

Group Dinner in the Trastevere neighborhood, home to artists and nightspots
Typical menu: Home starter, Gnocchetti with lard, amatriciana rigatoni (sauce with
tomato and bacon), beef strips with rocket, roast potatoes, tiramisù

Evening at leisure to explore Trastevere

Overnight in Rome.
Friday: October 24th - The Churches of Rome

Breakfast at hotel

Guided tour of the churches of Rome, including San Clemente, St. Peter in
Chains, St. Paul Outside the Walls, St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major, Santa
Croce in Gerusallemme, Santa Maria della Vittoria

Lunch at leisure & rest of afternoon on your own

Evening ''Rome by Night'' drive with stop at Trevi Fountain

Farewell Dinner including wine in restaurant near Piazza Navona
Typical Menù: Seafood risotto, fried squid and shrimps with fried vegetables, mixed
salad, dessert, 1/4 lt house wine

Overnight in Rome
Saturday: October 25th - Farewell to Italy

Breakfast at hotel

Check-out and transfer to Rome airport for those departing to USA (Time TBD)

Late day arrival at Pittsburgh International airport

A four-day add-on will be offered to those who would like to extend their time in Italy.
Possible itineraries include Venice and/or the Italian Riviera region of Cinque Terra
Price will be determined based on number of travelers and interests
