NWAA Board Meeting
June 26, 2014
Board Members Present: Fred Quandt, Paul Springer, Dawn Reddell, David Vann, Steve Duwel,
Kelly Branca, BriAnna Gogel
Board Members Not Present: Matt Burgess and Scot Harlow
May Minutes were unanimously approved.
Treasurer:
Paul submitted a report (see attached). We are very good with money – better than it has been
in a long time. May was a positive month. The accountants have everything to do taxes for the
last year.
Dawn motions to have Paul Springer and Steve Duwel’s names added to the Delta Trust
account so they can receive statements and 1099’s as needed. Steve seconds the motion.
Everyone approved.
Motion carried
Memorial Meet:
David Vann completed his administrative official requirements.
26 families did not volunteer. Names were reviewed and Julie Springer will email families to
determine how they want to make up volunteer requirements.
VAP – 42 people at 240 hours
Total of 388 swimmers participated in the meet. The meet went smoothly. Only concern is
having someone ready to be the meet referee since Brent T. is now finished. We currently have
five or six officials and would like to get that number up to seven to ten.
Triathlon
Volunteer list was sent to Kim S. today. There is an alternate bike route for the adult triathlon
on Sunday. Kid’s bike course may change due to construction around Apple Glenn and
Washington Junior High. We may need help with sponsorships and donations for door prizes,
etc. There was difficulty getting sponsorships for this year. Revenue from the triathlon is
around $8500 for the event. Dawn has made cuts in areas to limit the expenses for this year
(inflatables, shirts). This is Jamie Collins last year helping organize the volunteers for the
triathlons. BriAnna Gogel has volunteered to help Dawn with this.
Dawn presented a possible idea for another fundraiser. The fundraiser would be a golf
tournament. 15-20 volunteers would be needed at the most. The golf course would help with
the rest. To make it a success we would need to get really good door prizes. Dawn will
proceed with more information and will look into doing the tournament in September at either
The Creeks at Cave Springs or Prairie Creek Golf Course.
End of the Year Party
Date: Tuesday, August 5th. DJ needs to get taken care of (Mike Chase at Extreme Dance
Machine). Registration for the fall will be held at the party. When current families are
registering for the fall, is there a way to know what group their swimmer will be in? New
families that are registering – we need to know how much they need to pay. Kona Ice will be at
the party.
Coach’s Report
Steve submitted a report (see attached).
Proposed break is August 18th – September 7th.
Steve is requesting the club pick up expenses for him to attend the 14 and under Zones swim
meet in Oklahoma if he is not selected at Zone coach. Currently we have 5-6 swimmers
qualified and Steve would like to support the swimmers from NWAA. He is not planning on
attending the ASCA convention this year in Jacksonville.
Scholarship checks need to go out to the four seniors on the team. Fred and Steve will write a
letter to include with their scholarship money.
Transition to Fall
Proposed fall break August 18th – September 7th. Registration will take place at end of the year
party. Team is waiting to hear back from the Fitness Center about pool time.
New Business
Kelly asked when we should do ordering of apparel and equipment, especially for new families.
Next meeting – Tuesday, August 12th at 6:15pm
Steve motions to adjourn the meeting. Dawn seconds. Meeting adjourned.
