Summer School 2015 – Job Descriptions

K-2nd Grade Reading Club (2)
3 hours a day
* Energetic, motivated certificated teacher needed to support K-2nd grade
2 hours planning, 1
students in attaining grade level reading ability.

* Meet with parents/students in grades K-2nd two times a week from 5-6 p.m.

during Summer School.

*Advertise by developing/mailing out flyers and sending out calls to targeted
families.
* Determine effective reading strategies to share with families through modeling and collaborating with
families as they practice and providing materials for at home use.
* Develop reading goals for students and share goals with families, provide goals to Director of Teaching
and Learning at the end of Summer School.
* Teach families ways to progress monitor their student’s progress in reading.
* Keep daily attendance and submit to the Director of Teaching and Learning at the end of Summer
School.

Science Teacher Grades 3-6 (1)
Energetic, motivated certificated teacher needed to support 3rd through 6th grade students in attaining
grade level science skills using project based, activity based curriculum and activities.

Strategically intervene with struggling students to increase science skills and enrich students
with core science skills.
Implement language acquisition strategies learned about during daily PD.
Use pre and post-assessments to set individual student goals and monitor.
Develop effective plans utilizing the SIMPLE 6 to support students in attaining grade level
science levels.
Provide progress reports to parents every two weeks.
Plan for and provide “at home” science intervention/enrichment strategies to parents.
Communicate to parents science standards and activities school is promoting to help students
attain needed science knowledge.
Expectations:
* Development and implementation of pre and post assessments and progress monitoring. Scores
provided at the end of summer school to Director of Teaching and Learning.
* Development of goal shared with student and parent, goal emailed to Director of Teaching and
Learning for student’s learning plan in Home Room.
* Progress reports to parents at least twice during summer session.
* Provide “at home” science strategies to parents at least two times.
* Communicate to parents information about science standards and activities that can be done at home
to promote science background for our students.

Math Teacher Grades 3-6 (2)
Energetic, motivated certificated teacher needed to support 3rd through 6th grade students in attaining
grade level math skills.







Strategically intervene with struggling students to increase math skills.
Implement language acquisition strategies learned about during daily PD.
Use pre and post-assessments to set individual student goals and monitor (math level and
progress made.
Develop effective plans utilizing the SIMPLE 6 to support students in attaining grade level math
levels.

Use pre and post-assessments to set individual student goals and monitor.
Develop effective plans utilizing the SIMPLE 6 to support students in attaining WA State History
knowledge.

Plan for and provide “at home” WA State History content and strategies to parents.
Expectations:

* Collaborate with teachers and use best practices when helping students.
* Encourage students to use high level thinking skills.
* Lead small groups of students with teacher direction.
* Supervise students.
* Implement language acquisition strategies shared through coaching.
* Support special education student needs which may include toileting, feeding, supervising and
interacting with handicapped students.
* Provide classroom support for positive, engaging environment for students.

Paraeducator (5 hours), Custodian (3 hours)
Energetic, motivated classified staff needed to support students in attaining grade level success.
* Collaborate with teachers and use best practices when helping students.
* Encourage students to use high level thinking skills.
* Lead small groups of students with teacher direction.
* Supervise students.
* Implement language acquisition strategies shared through coaching.
* Support special education student needs which may include toileting, feeding, supervising and
interacting with handicapped students.
* Provide classroom support for positive, engaging environment for students.
* Perform custodial duties to clean up classrooms and prepare classrooms and public areas for next
day’s activities.
