STUDENT COUNCIL INITIATIVES
Members of student council have been very active in the month of November and
took the initiative to carry out environmental and community service related
activities such as Can Collection Drive, Clean up the world, Cleaner’s
Appreciation, Road Safety Campaign to raise awareness among the students.
Students have displayed very strong sense of personal responsibility whilst
balancing their academics with all other activities.
CAN COLLECTION DRIVE
The environmental club of Pristine Private
School successfully conducted a Can collection
drive in the month of November. The school
managed to collect 80 kgs of Cans during the
campaign. The cans were deposited with
Emirates Environmental Group on 16th
November, 2013 as part of the Can Collection
Drive organized by the group.
The members of Environment Club also held a
sale of canned juices like Rani, Pakola on 13th
November, 2013 during break time. This was
part of the campaign to sensitize the students
about the need to recycle cans and also to show
that there are healthy
options for cans other
than fizzy drinks.
Students made a profit
of AED 92 which will
be used for future environmental activities.
In order to motivate the students to bring more cans for recycling, the
environmental club announced an award of a gift voucher from Virgin Megastore
worth AED 100/- which was won by Andrei Jaztin Elman of Year 1B for bringing
300 cans. Stephanie Bianca Magsino Ilagan of Year 2E won a gift voucher of AED
50/- for bringing 250 cans.
The environment club takes this
opportunity to congratulate the
winners and thank all the
students,
teachers
and
administrative staff for
their support during the
can collection drive.
Cleaners Appreciation Day
Everyone has a role to play in society and every job is necessary for maintaining a
perfect balance to the world’s economy. So no matter what job we do, it always
feels good to be appreciated. Cleaning workers have a very labor-intensive and
often thankless job.
Thus, the students and staff at Pristine Private School held a "Cleaners
Appreciation Day" on 6th November, 2013 where the Cleaners were told how much
their job counts and how thankful we are to them. To make sure they understood
we really appreciate their work, the students spoke to them in their native
languages. The cleaners were also given gift packs as a token of appreciation and
had photos taken along with the students. The Principal and the Head of Senior
School also spoke to them and appreciated their work. It was indeed a pleasure to
see big smiles on their faces just by giving a small recognition to their job!
Pristinians have always prided themselves in being part of environmental
awareness activities. As in the previous years, the school has taken part in the
“Clean up the world“ Campaign organized by the Dubai Municipality in the month
of November.
The aim of the campaign is to make our parks, creek, beaches and streets healthy
and clean by removing and recycling rubbish that is spoiling them.
The clean-up drive
organized on 22nd
November, 2013 had
to be cancelled
because of inclement
weather. However,
the students with the
permission of the
Dubai Municipality
organized a clean-up
drive in the
neighbourhood on
27th November,
2013. Boys from
Grade 9 and 10 under the guidance of teachers went on to clean the area around the
school. It was really a pleasure to see the boys clean the neighbourhood with
enthusiasm.
Road Safety Awareness Drive
“It’s better to lose one minute in life than to lose life in a
minute”
The Student Council was given the opportunity to create awareness on “Road
Safety”. Sitara Zehra, the Head Prefect took this initiative to decorate the senior
school corridors with road signs. Year 9, 10 & 11 students were assigned to bring
posters and articles on reckless driving, by creating posters and putting up in the
school corridors.
