Montana Grasses: Knowing the Good from the Bad and the Ugly - Noelle Orloff
There are about 240 species of grasses in Montana, and distinguishing between beneficial
species and weeds can be tricky. In this presentation, we will learn about different Extension
resources you can use to help you identify Montana grasses. We will also focus on identification
of a few species of invasive annual grasses that are problematic in Montana.

It is important to consider how long weed seeds can persist in the soil when planning weed
management actions or when predicting how invasive a plant species may become. In this
presentation, we will focus on learning about the biology, ecology, and management
implications associated with weed seed viability and longevity.
