the need
The Santa Clarita Valley needs a modern, efficient,
affordable, and accessible education center where all
aspects of the Culinary Arts can be taught to the highest
possible standards – a place where instruction in the
Culinary Arts will be conducted by the most talented and
respected professionals available, at an affordable cost - and of the highest quality -- that will encourage
students of all ages and backgrounds who wish to
pursue the Culinary Arts as a lifelong profession. Among
the more than 2000 restaurants in Santa Clarita and Los
Angeles, are some of the finest eating places in the country. These restaurants need
well-trained, creative and passionate employees for generations to come, underlining
the need for a permanent teaching facility on the College of the Canyons campus.
Construction Has Begun!
A groundbreaking ceremony for the College of
the Canyons Institute for Culinary Education was
held in August 2013. The building is scheduled
for completion in the fall of 2014.
Our Vision
This facility will be a 12,000-square-foot building
in an architectural style that underlines both the
simplicity of the reflective glass surfaces found on nearby structures and underlines an
elegant sophistication appropriate for a building that will serve educational as well as
social functions. Individual elements include a Demonstration Kitchen,” two Savory
Kitchens, a Sweets Kitchen with a Chocolate Room, and Wine Studies Classroom.

Festival Overview
Event Overview
The Sierra Pelona Valley Wine Festival is a showcase of Los Angeles’
County premier wine and spirit producers and culinary professionals. Now,
in its second year, the Festival showcases nearly 150 wines from over 40
wineries, over 40 of Santa Clarita’s fine dining restaurants, spirit purveyors,
gourmet food companies, and artists.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Sierra Pelona Valley Wine Festival is to promote and
celebrate fine wine and foods of California in Agua Dulce, Los Angeles
County - one of California’s hidden secret in one of America’s most affluent
counties. The Sierra Pelona Valley Wine Festival focuses attention on Los
Angeles’ premier wine producers and culinary professionals.
Vision or Purpose Statement
•Charity: to raise funds for the College of the Canyons Foundation
•Education: for the general consumer, to promote Los Angels’ county and
Sierra Pelona AVA wine and culinary education through direct one-on-one
access to world class culinary professionals and wine experts
•Recognition: to bring national and regional attention to the wine and
culinary offerings of Santa Clarita and the Sierra Pelona Valley.
Charitable Initiatives
The Sierra Pelona Valley Vintners Association supports College of the
Canyons Foundation and many other local charities.

Demographics & Impact
In 2013, the festival had over 700 attendees. The Sierra
Pelona Valley Wine Festival reaches the following people:
•89.5% of Festival visitors were from the Los Angeles County
area while 11.5% were non‐local (50+ miles away)
•21% of those surveyed had never been to Sierra Pelona Valley
•Median Age of Festival out‐of‐town guest: 44 years old
•Typical Travel Party: 3 adults
•65.3% of the guests had an annual household income of at least
$80,000, with 14.1% having household income of above $150,000
•The majority of Festival attendees are married, employed
full‐time and have a college degree
•28% of out‐of‐town guests reported that they stayed and paid for
accommodations for an average of 2 nights
•Out‐of‐town guests spent an average of $275 per person during
their stay, $825 per party (not including accommodations)
•The Festival employs 4 full-time staff. We also hire staffing,
security and cleaning services, which employs over 40+ people
throughout the weekend
•The Festival spends approximately $75,000 of budget locally
•The Festival has raised over $10,000 in our first year for Henry
Mayo Newhall Foundation
•The Festival strives to be a green festival and we pick up vendor
recyclables including cardboard cases and wine bottles to make
sure they are recycled. Overall, 90% of the waste from the event
was diverted from the landfill in 2013.

Marketing Outline
The marketing campaign begins 5 months out and will utilize a
cross selection of local and regional print, television, radio,
emarketing, social networking, internet and flyers/posters/banners
to promote the Sierra Pelona Valley Wine Festival.

Corporate Sponsors
As a Festival Corporate Sponsor, your company will become one of the Festival’s
premier showcased sponsors. Your company will be featured in the overall promotion of
the Festival and your company will receive broad exposure to potential and existing
guests and other sponsors. To give your company the most exposure, we have
exclusive categories in which you will be the only company in the following categories:
Bank, Automobile, Cruise Line, Bottle Water etc. Corporate sponsors can entertain their
customers, clients and employees at their own booth on “festival day”.
Item Sponsors
As an Item Sponsor, your company logo and/or company name will appear on the item,
and your company will be acknowledged in the Program Guide. Organizations may
sponsor or co-sponsor any of these mementos, or an appropriate additional one of their
own choosing: Wine Glasses (Presenting sponsor), Swag Bags (VIP Sponsor), etc. You
may also donate items to be placed in the swag bags.
