Your portfolio write for this week is sentence construction practice.
Using the vocabulary words from Vocab lesson 22, write excellent sentences using
coordinating and subordinating clauses. Use your GUM review #4 as a reference for this type
of sentence construction.
This requires some attention to how you compose and punctuate your writing. Use this as a
checklist:






Write ten sentences
Use the ten different vocab words from lesson 22
Write five compound sentences using coordinating conjunctions
Write five complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions
Extra credit – write an eleventh sentence: compound complex construction
Double check for proper punctuation! You probably won’t be asked to identify clauses
much in your life, but you will be judged on the quality of your writing, which depends
on proper punctuation of sentences with phrases and clauses
Type or write a final draft in ink.
