Class of 2017 Elections
President
Dominic Gibson:
I’m not going to stand up here and say that I am the perfect student or that you
should vote for me because its been my dream since I was little I wont lie to you guys
I’m not a perfect student I’m just a freshman soon to be sophomore who wants to change
this school for the better. I want to get some spirit in the class of 2017 which means
making up new spirit weeks with things we haven’t been hearing since 6th grade, making
better pep rally’s that don’t involve us spending ten minutes watching Dominick getting
wrapped up in toilet paper, hey how about we have a dance that ISNT home coming or
prom. I want to make high school more fun for us even if it takes all my imagination, rips
my creativity to shreds, and shatters my feet from walking back the drawing board so
much if you elect me ill show you that I have the ability to run the class of 2017.Thank
you.
Vice President
Alexis Mangafas:
My name is Alexis Mangafas, I am 15 years old and I will be a sophomore in
High School in the fall of 2014. This year I have decided to run for the office of Vice
President. I understand that it is a very big responsibility to be an officer in the upcoming
year. I know that I will have many responsibilities and I will have to be a role model and
example to my fellow peers. I want to be Vice President because I know that I am able to
uphold the responsibility of being an officer. I know this because I will be able to assume
responsibility of the President when he/she is unable to be present. I am also very skilled
at maintaining an accurate attendance for the class council members because I have done
it when I was secretary in Art Honors Society in middle school. I will also be able to have
an accurate record of the community service hours of all class council members.
I want to become an officer because I want to do whatever I can to improve our
school and make sure that our class and the other classes have the most fun we can ever
have at Edison high school. I do play volleyball and I know how important it is to have
the right paperwork, to be very organized and how important attendance is. To add on, I
want to become a class officer because even though I attend the events at school, I want
to help plan them. I want to be more involved in my school life. I believe that I will make
a very good and responsible officer.
The main thing I want to focus on to try and improve our entire school is to try
and get more people involved in helping out the school with just the littlest things. They
could help out by not throwing trash around on the floors in the school; they can help the
school out by coming to events and donating their time, help and money. Also, I want to
get people more involved in school activities because I did go to the bonfire and the
attendance was poor. To help our class out, I want to try and get a lot of fundraising in to
help with the expenses of our senior prom. Some fundraising ideas is selling school
supplies because I know many students often lose their pens and pencils or they forget
they had to have post-it’s for class. We could sell these in the morning before school in
the lobby. The point is I want my school and my class to have the best experience they
have in school. By being Vice President, I will try to accomplish all of these things to try
and improve the school.
Angelica Pulgiano:
Being a class officer gives you the tools to make decisions. Being a class officer
lets you take responsibility of leading your class. These are only two of the reasons why I
want to be the class of 2017 Vice President. Last year, I was freshman class president and
now I am running again but for Vice President this time. I know what it takes to be class
officer who is successful at their job. I know how to work well with others, have fun, and
get things done. That’s why I want to be a class officer for the class of 2017.
If I could make changes in the school, or just for my class I would first try and
make students more spirited and more involved. Edison High School is a great school and
we do a lot of fun activities. However, these school activities cannot be fun if we no
students are involved. As a student body, we should have spirit and a love for our school.
Next, if I could improve the school, I would make us as a whole more united as one. I
would do activities where people have to work together to win. If we as a school are
united, then we can become more accomplished. We can have more fun because we
enjoy the people we are around. So now I ask you to vote for me as your class of 2017
Vice President.
Secretary
Hemani Patel:
High school is known as the place where you prepare for college, where you
become mature, and where you plan for your future. However, it is also important for one
to enjoy and live life to the fullest before becoming an adult and going to college. I want
every one of my four years in high school to be memorable. My class leaders so far, have
done a great job in making my first year of high school a memorable one. But, not only
do I want to be remembered for being part of all the wonderful memories, but also for
being one the people that helped create those memorable times. I want to become
secretary because I want to work with my classmates and make our sophomore year just
as good as this one, if not better. I am hardworking and willing to put in all the time and
effort required to fulfill the responsibilities of being a secretary. I will try my best to
introduce new ideas to make the year more enjoyable, so that we can all have fun and
work hard at the same time.
There are many things that any class officer would want to accomplish. We all
have goals and desires, but we may not always accomplish them because they may be
way beyond our reach. To start off, I would not give any fake promises for how I would
improve the school. The best way is to start off small. My first goal would be to raise
more money for the class of 2017. We can host more bake sales and fundraisers. With
this money, we could donate to those in need, and we can attempt to convince the Board
of Education to allow more field trips. Moreover, we can plan more entertaining events
and open up more opportunities for students to earn volunteer hours. Lastly, I would be
ready to take advice from my teachers, and I would address the concerns of my
classmates. Although being the class secretary requires a lot of effort, I want to take on
this responsibility because I want a chance, a chance to help improve the school and
make high school a great experience for everyone.
Treasurer
Amielyn Musa:
Hello! My name is Amielyn Musa, and I am running for treasurer for the class of
2017. Currently, I hold the role as freshman class treasurer and I wish to continue my
position for next year. My reasons for running again are fairly clear; simply, the position
as treasurer is an opportunity I am willing to take not only to organize our class’ funds,
but to lead our class in the many school events we participate in as well as represent us
sophomores in the best way I can. Though it is only April, looking back at this year, I can
honestly say that some of the best moments in school were when I was able to take part
and even lead in events like “Halloween at the High” and the “Hallway Decorating
Competition.” Undoubtedly, my pride from events like these reveals my inner geek and
inner nerd, but those feelings of pride are the reasons I should continue my role as
treasurer.
Honestly, there is not a whole lot that I can give to my class and my school. I
can’t make a thousand dollars magically appear to help our class’ future. I can’t force
other students and other people to eagerly give money towards our class and our school.
But what I can and will do is work diligently to achieve our class’ and our schools’ goals.
I will promote my class and school and all of their events and sales to raise money that
will ultimately benefit all of us (e.g. Freshman Class T-Shirts are being sold for only $10
now until they are sold out). I will represent my class well and give reasons to be proud
of ourselves and our school as a whole. To be treasurer is not only about organizing and
counting money, but to lead a class in achieving future goals. And I promise if voted
treasurer, I would honor the position taking the role seriously and passionately.
