Mike Christian Scholarship Award
This annual award of $1000, sponsored by Christian Cattle Company of Hico,
Texas, will be awarded to an outstanding Texas Junior Angus member at the
State Junior Angus Show banquet.
The purpose of this annual scholarship is to encourage and reward our Junior
Angus exhibitors in their efforts, and to help them further their education, if
desired.
Eligibility Rules:
1. Must be an active, paid-up member of the Texas Junior Angus Association.
2. Mother (if applicable) must be a paid-up member of the Texas Angus
Auxiliary.
3. Must exhibit registered Angus cattle. It should be pointed out, this
scholarship award is NOT contingent on purchasing an Angus from
Christian Cattle Company.
4. The award will be based on several criteria, including but not limited to the
following:
character, involvement/participation/contribution in Texas Junior Angus
events/shows/field days/contests, effort, attitude toward others, academic
achievement, extra-curricular involvement (FFA, 4-H, judging teams,
sports, band, and other school activities), and social, benevolent, or
church-related activities.
5. Mike Christian will make the final decision of the scholarship award. Input
will be considered from certain individuals, including Tom and Merridee
Wells of Hamilton, Ty and Nikolyn Williams of Rio Vista, and the Texas
Junior Angus advisors.
6. The applicant must be a high school junior or senior, or officially enrolled
in college.
It is my sincere wish to be of assistance to those Texas Juniors who have
distinguished themselves by dedication to our Angus breed, by their
participation in a number of worthy endeavors, who have been willing to
work hard and pay the price of high achievement, and whose character is a
blessing to us all.
