INSTRUCTIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION
(Please read all information below carefully)

Prospective Students interested in applying for On-Campus
Accommodation should submit Hall of Residence applications at the
same time as applying to the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
Applicants should not wait until they have been accepted by the UWI to
apply for on-campus housing.

The application form must be printed (please do not attach this
instruction page to the application form) on legal size (8 ½” x 14”) paper.
Please read all pages carefully before completing the form.

Only original documents are accepted.
Copies of applications or
supporting documents sent via facsimile or email will not be processed.

All required information must be inserted. No information should be
omitted.

Prospective Students are not required to insert a UWI ID/Registration
Number if none has been assigned. A passport size photo must be
attached to the application.

If you were ever convicted of or pleaded guilty or no contest to any
criminal offense, you must attach the appropriate documentation and a
full statement of the relevant facts from the court that adjudicated the
charges or the school from which you were expelled or suspended.

If you have never been convicted of or pleaded guilty or no contest to
any criminal offense, you must provide a police certificate of good
character or a letter of recommendation from an academic institution
you attend/attended or from a person of good standing in your
community, who is familiar with you. The letter of recommendation must
be printed on an official letterhead and an official stamp must also be
included.

A caution/reservation fee must accompany the application form (see
details outlined on the form attached).
Payment of the
caution/reservation fee must be paid online via the campus website or at
the Cashier, UWI, St. Augustine.
This fee/amount must not be
combined with the UWI application fee. Cash must not be mailed.
Note: The link for making the payment online can also be found on the
Division of Student Services and Development (DSSD) webpage, on the
UWI, St. Augustine website.


If payment is made online, a copy of the receipt must be printed
and attached to the application form with other supporting
documents.

Packages sent via Express Mail Service (EMS) which is offered by Post
Offices will not be accepted. Applications must be submitted to The
Director, Division of Student Services and Development, UWI, St.
Augustine, Trinidad. Please do not send hall applications to halls or any
other department including the Admissions Section.

The deadline date is MARCH 31st 2016. Please note that applications
received after this date will only be considered if there are remaining
spaces available. That is, spaces available after applicants who met the
deadline date have been placed.

Hall Information
Canada, Milner and Trinity Halls of Residence are on the St. Augustine Campus. The Sir
Arthur Lewis Hall on St. John’s Road is within close proximity to the Campus. Joyce
Gibson Inniss Hall of Residence is adjacent to the Faculty of Medical Sciences, some 4
km away at Mt. Hope and only accommodates students of the Medical Sciences Faculty.

NOTE TO APPLICANTS:
A Reservation Fee of TT$840.00 must accompany the application form. This fee will be
refunded if you have not been accepted to Hall or cancel your application prior to the
beginning of the semester (please contact Division of Student Services and Development).
The fee converts to a Caution Fee once the student has taken up residence and will be
refunded upon completion of his/her stay on hall by the Hall Supervisor. The Payment
can be made in the form of a bank draft or manager’s cheque and submitted/mailed with
the completed application. Cash payments can be made at the Cashier, The Student
Administration Building, UWI. The receipt and the completed application must be
submitted to the Office of Division of Student Services and Development.
The
Cheque/Draft must be made payable to The University of the West Indies in only
either US or TT dollars. PLEASE DO NOT MAIL CASH!
ALSO NOTE THAT

On arrival to the Hall, students must pay an additional charge which serves as a kitchen fee.
This will cover the cost of cooking gas/electricity and cleaning materials. Students should
budget to pay approximately $45.00TT for these services per semester.

 FEES MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE, MINIMUM PAYMENT ONE (1) SEMESTER AND MAY
BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
*Students who have been accepted to the University must contact the relevant hall to verify their
accommodation status. Students must notify this office immediately if hall accommodation is no
longer required.
The University of the West Indies reserves the right to make changes, without prior notice,
to information contained in this publication.

(2) University’s regulations on conduct and policies under which housing facilities are
operated must be observed at all times during the period of residence.

(4) If I fail to respond to ANY correspondence from the Halls of Residence my application
will be cancelled.
(5) This application must be submitted with a payment of the pre-cautionary fee.
(6) Persons who have been offered and accepted a place on hall will only be guaranteed
accommodation for a period of one academic year, providing that all terms and
conditions of the Hall agreement and tenancy are adhered to.
