SUMMER VACATION CARE 2015/2016
For primary school children (K – Year 6).
Bookings close on Friday 4th December 2015.
Booking forms attached to this program must be
completed and submitted for your booking to be
processed.
All payments must be made by Friday 11th December
2015. Non-payment by the agreed date will result in the
place being offered to the next family on the waiting list.
Bookings will not be processed for those families with any
outstanding amounts owed from after school care or past
vacation care programs.
The preferred payment method is online:

The alternative is to pay at the Community Centre front
desk (please discuss process with the children’s program
staff) or by cheque. Cheques must be made payable to
“The City of Sydney Council”.
Fees are charged for every day that you book, whether
your child attends or not. Excursion fees can be
reimbursed for an absent day if you provide a doctor’s
certificate and call the service no later than 9am to advise
your child will be absent.
Families not claiming CCB or in the process of being
assessed for CCB will be required to pay the full
amount upfront.
Families can access Child Care Benefit (CCB) to
subsidise these fees as well as the Child Care Rebate
(CCR) which can be allocated towards the payment of
fees.
To receive CCB or CCR you need to register with the
Department of Human Services (DHS) on 13 61 50
between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday or 13 12 02 for
information in languages other than English.
Purpose of Collection of Information on this form: To be considered for a place
at our vacation care program for primary school aged children.
Intended Recipients: Relevant City of Sydney staff concerned with the
provision of children’s services.
Supply of Information: Not legally required. However if you don’t give us the
required information, it will affect our ability to allocate priority to you, or to
contact you should a place become available at the centre.
Access/Correction: To access and correct any information provided please
contact the Children’s Program Team Leader.
Storage of document/information: City of Sydney Children’s Programs (on
site).

Cost
$45 per child per day plus additional excursion costs
Hours
8am – 6pm
The program closes at 6pm. Penalty fees of $1 for every 1
minute after 6pm apply, with a $10 minimum for late pickups.

What to Wear
Please ensure that your child wears appropriate clothes to
the centre each day, please NO SINGLETS or singlet
dresses. Shoes that completely cover the toes and protect
the foot should be worn - no sandals, ballet shoes, or
thongs. If your child is dressed inappropriately for the day’s
activity/excursion or is not dressed appropriately to meet
our sun smart policy you may be asked to collect your
child from the centre or to provide appropriate clothing.
Signing In & Out
All children must be signed in and out by a parent or
guardian and visual contact must be made with a member
of staff.
Absences & Sick Children
If you have booked but cannot attend please notify us as
soon as possible.
Sick children are not permitted to attend the centre as they
may spread infection. If you need us to administer
medication to your child, you must complete a Medication
Authority Form which you can get from us.
Swimming Excursions
Children should be comfortable in the water, be able to
swim and dress themselves unassisted. Additionally they
should be 6 years of age or older. 5 year olds and nonswimmers will be provided shallow water options.
Valuables
We are unable to take responsibility for or secure
valuables (including toys, electronic games etc.) or money
children bring to the centre. Children are encouraged to
not bring any such items to the centre. Spending money is
optional and is the child’s responsibility and we cannot
guarantee that the program will have time to stop so that
any child can buy their lunch, buying something from a
shop cannot be guaranteed.
Risk Assessments
Risk assessments have been conducted for all excursions
and have been communicated to all educators involved in
the program. Families can access these upon request.
Thursday 17 December
Schools Out – Chill Out & Pamper Day
Time to take a breath and wind down to holiday mode. Board games, puzzles, fun with friends & listening to music. Try
a cucumber facial and get your nails painted. Practice a new funky hair style (water & gel only - no scissors today
guys!) Outside games and activities for those wanting some sports and physical fun.
Friday 18 December
Kids can Cook
Bake some biscuits, make a perfect pizza! Kids will enjoy learning how to prepare and cook some classic foods today at
Ultimo. Later we will try our hand at some canvas art.
Monday 21 December
Paper Frenzy
What can you make from a piece of paper! An aeroplane,
a doll, a snowflake? How good at origami are you!
Limitless fun with paper today.
Later we will have a picnic in the park and a huge Frisbee
challenge.

Tuesday 22 December
Christmas Craft Day & Water Fun
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Make those last minute handmade treasures to decorate your tree.
Prepare to get wet later as we fill the water trough and have paper boat races and other fun water play. Please bring
swimmers, rash shirts and a towel and prepare to get wet.
Wednesday 23 December
Movie Day
Some of us are off to the movies today at Moore Park.
Afterwards we will have lunch at the playground before
returning to Ultimo.
Those kids staying at the centre will enjoy an “in –house”
movie with plenty of special treats and homemade
snacks.
Loads of inside and outside fun and games to play today.

End of Year Celebration!
Today we will all sit together and share in a delicious end
of year catered festive lunch of cold meats, salads and
plenty of gooey, sticky treats. Lots of party fun and
games for all as we say farewell to 2015 at Ultimo
Children’s Program.

Cultural and allergy considerate foods will also be made

Happy New Year!
Electronics, Gadgets & Gizmo’s
Bring your own electronic device to Ultimo today and get
set to challenge your friends on the Wii and Xbox. We will
also have lots of fun trying to build some wonderful
gadgets and gizmos and exploring how and why things
move. Loads of other inside and outside fun for all.

Powerhouse Museum – local walking excursion
Staff and children will explore and share in the wonders of
the gadgets and gizmos and other fabulous things at the
Powerhouse today
Tuesday 5 January
Colours of our World!
Today is all about colour. Come dressed in your brightest and most colourful clothes. Lots of rainbow activity fun
including cooking, art/craft and even science experiments involving colour. Children will also learn how to use a
camera, print out their images and use colour in black and white prints to create awesome artwork.
Wednesday 6 January
Puppets Galore!
We will take part in designing and making our own puppet show using puppets that we will be making in centre today.
Children will learn the art of script writing and production as well as performance techniques. Later we will all have fun
playing balloon volleyball and other fun inside and outside games
Thursday 7 January
Animal World
The Australian Wildlife Exhibit is setting up at Ultimo
today. Kids will get hands on experience with some of our
best loved critters including pythons, lizards, frogs,
possums and a crocodile! The children will all learn about
the animals and their environment.

Friday 8 January
Ahoy there me hearties! It’s Pirate Day!
Come dressed as a pirate today and join in the fun on our
walking journey up to the Maritime Museum at Darling
Harbour to take part in all of the fun of the Horrible
Histories Pirates Exhibition.
Loads of pirate themed games and activities for all.

lunch at the museum.
Monday 11 January
Wheels Day
Bring your scooter and helmets today (no bikes or skates
please). We are all off to Sydney Park to enjoy some
sunshine and fresh air. Children will scooter around the
cycle track and learn all about road safety. Lots of fun
and exploration for all followed by a picnic before
returning back to Ultimo in the afternoon.

Tuesday 12 January
Drive In Movie Day
Today we will use our skills and imagination to turn old
large boxes into the cars of tomorrow. We will then take
our cars to the Ultimo Kids Drive-in for an in-centre DVD
bonanza, right here at the centre, and enjoy choc-tops
and popcorn whilst sitting in the comfort of our new cars.

King St Theatre – “The Jungle Book”
King St Newtown

Children will watch a theatre performance of the Jungle
Book. Please bring lunch and water bottle and a hat. Lunch
will be in the nearby Sydney Park whilst we wait for the bus

Disney & Disco
Let it Go, Let it Go, Too Infinity & Beyond! Come dressed as your favourite Disney character today. Loads of fun and
games, with Disney arts and crafts for all. Later we will boogie down and “bop ‘til we drop” at the Ultimo Kids Disco!
Thursday 14 January
Sublime Smoothies & Sand Art
What kind of smoothie do you like best!
Kids will get to experiment with fruit and vegetables today
to make and taste the best smoothies ever! We will also
be having lots of fun with sand art and sand sculptures
today.

Gardens Galore!
The centre’s garden beds need refreshing. Today we will brighten up our outside space and plant some flower and
vegetable gardens. Children will also get to decorate and plant their own take home terracotta mini gardens.
Lots of indoor and outdoor fun and games for all.
Monday 18 January
Zany Day
Zany hair, face paint and create some crazy craft creatures. The zanier the better today! Loads of zany activities.
Lots of sports fun today with soccer, basketball and scooter boards for those that want to run and get physical.
Tuesday 19 January
Symbio Wildlife Park
We are off to explore our southernmost Sydney region’s
beautiful Symbio Zoo today. Kids will enjoy a coach trip
down through the Royal National Park and interact with
the animals at Symbio. Kids will see koalas and tigers,
and get to feed the goats and kangaroos. We will have a
picnic lunch at Symbio and return again by coach back to
Ultimo. The coach ride is approximately 90 minutes each
way, so sit back and relax, and enjoy the scenery!

Slime & Science Day
Prepare to be slimed! Slime, goop, jelly – it’s all about icky, gooey fun today. Loads of science experiments and good
old fashioned messy play today. Don’t wear your best clothes guys!
Thursday 21 January
Water Fun at Ultimo
Sprinklers, water bombs and all things water today.
Children will get wet and wild today so please provide a
towel and change of clothes. Board shorts and rash vests
a must today. Inside craft and activities for those not
wanting to be involved in water play.

Fun Day Out – Water Fun Gala Day
Rosebery
Slip n Slide, Water Tag and Zorb Balls.
A professional organized day of water fun and sport at
Rosebery Public School. Children to bring swimmers, rash
vests, towel, change of clothes, lunch, drink bottle and hat.
Only confident children willing to try new challenges to
attend.
Friday 22 January
PJ’s & Popcorn!
What a week we have had! Today we slow down the pace and chill out and relax. Read a book, colour in, watch a DVD
and catch up with friends, all in the comfort of our Pyjamas! No frills, bells or whistles to day. Kids will be free to just be
a kid and do as little or as much of whatever they want to do today. Loads of homemade popcorn for all throughout the
day.

Australia Day BBQ!
Do you like tomato or BBQ sauce on your sausage sandwich? What would Australia Day be without a cricket match!
Today we celebrate everything Australian and share a sausage sizzle lunch followed by a cricket match. Kids will make
lamingtons and Aussie flags, and get to chat about family customs and what being an Australian means to them.

Oh no! School tomorrow! Holidays are at an end, but we will have one last awesome day! Water play, arts and crafts,
sport and activities for all here at Ultimo as we get ready to face the new school year.
