Brian Boswell and Lee Boswell former members of the Club. Brian has passed away now, Lee lives in
Australia I think. Both played Franklin Reps – Brian as a batsman, Lee as a bowling allrounder of
some pace (Lee was also a member of the PCC All Time XI, chosen at 50th Anniversary in 2009)

base to go with it somewhere and a scroll of sorts
RICHARD HALLIWELL TROPHY
Played for between Premier teams of Papakura and Pukekohe-Metro – winner is whoever wins the
last completed match between the two of the season. In the case of a drawn 2-day match, whoever
wins the 1st innings would be declared trophy winner.
Richard is/was (dead) a Life Member of Counties-Manukau Cricket Assn. Played more than 100
matches for Franklin/Counties (the record), scored the most runs (almost 3000), and took more than
50 wickets.
Richard played for Papakura in the title-winning team of 1966/67, and for Pukekohe (and PukekoheMetro) for the rest of his career. He would’ve played well into the 2000’s. Owned shoe shops. Loved
Lion Red.
THE CLOCK
Played for between Premier teams of Papakura and Manukau. On the line every game. Used to be
you only won if you stole it without the other team knowing about it. We should have it as we won
the 2-day match. Not engraved
THE SCOTT GUTHRIE HELMET AWARD
During the years when we had no Premier team, there was a season of Premier/Senior A crossover. I
think this was the 2005/06 season. Papakura A’s played Waiuku Prems in a 2-day match at Massey
Road. Tail-end batsman Rene Styles faced up to Waiuku left arm seamer (and Counties captain) Scott
Guthrie, without a helmet, with the predictable result of the bouncer cracking him on the cheek/eye
socket. Gavin Mudford managed to steal Scott’s helmet by way of revenge at the end of the day,
mounted it on a stump, and spray painted it gold. Given out to the player who has received the
worst (best?) hit to the head over the season. Not engraved
