Anesthesiologist

Sevofluorene: o Inhalation o It shuts down the central nervous systems for short periods of time o For adults and children for inpatient or outpatient surgery o Nausea, dizziness, hyperthermia

Nitrous Oxide: o Inhalation o It is a light anesthetic that relaxes your brain and nerves making in a sleepy state of mind. o Used to relax patients before putting in IVs and mostly used for dental care and surgery. o Dizziness, confusion, light headedness

Thiopental: o Intraveniously o It slows down the nervous system to prevent the patient from feeling pain during the procedure o Used to stop seizsures and also for surgery. o Nausea, dizziness

Propofol: o Intraveniously o It relaxes the nerves in the body and the brain into a deep sleep where the nerves cant feel pain. o Used in general surgeries and in ICU or most operations. o Sleepiness, nausea, dizziness

General Information o After high school anesthesiologists must have 4 years of undergraduate school and 4 years of medical school. o Anesthesiologists work with patients before during and after a procedure that needs anesthesia. They help manage the pain and comfort during the procedure and check vital signs and adjust the anesthesiology as needed. o The Salary range for an anesthesiologist is $300,000-450,000. Perioperative Nurses o Perioperative Nurses must have a bachelors degree and at least one year of training in the OR. o Daily duties and responsibilities include: helping plan, carry out, and assess treatment for patients in surgery. Working in the OR assessing the patients needs before during and after the surgery.

Pharmacist

1. The type of regection Diana may go through when having a kidney transplant is acute rejection. Her body will gradually attack the new, foreign tissues. The immune system has antibodies that attack the antigens of the new tissue. This causes many problems and if untreated will cause her to die.

2. Cyclosporins act by inhibiting T-cell activation which prevents T-cells from attacking the transplanted organ.

Azathioprines disrupt the synthesis of DNA and RNA and cell division.

Corticosteroids suppress the inflammation associated with transplant rejection.

Anethesiologist Job Interview o Why did you choose this career?

I chose this career because the work varies everyday. One day you would do anesthesia for a kidney transplant the next for a child who has a broken arm. o What are the most important rewards you expect in your career?

First and foremost the lives I would have in my hands. I would help save lives and help the doctors perform at their best ability. I also look forward to the money I will make. I will give back to the community and to my church with the money I make and also support my family.

o What makes you qualified for this position?

I have trained for many years and shadowed my uncle who is a nurse anethitist. I have graduated medical school and also received my liscens. o What parts of your education do you see as relevant to this position? I see taking many science classes helping me take this career. Taking all BioMed classes at our career center has helped as well. It made me realize how great science and the heath care realm is. o How do you see yourself advancing in this career field?

At first I will do small anesthesia such as nitrous oxide at a dentist office. Then I will try to become more skilled and practice more and be able to do general anesthesia at a large hospital such a GHS.
