Civitas Academy Bulletin
23/11/2015
Dear parents and carers,
Today we launch our revamped website: www.civitasacademy.co.uk
Please take some time to look around and let us know what you think.
This will be the last paper copy of the bulletin coming home in book bags
today, each week they will be emailed out. A copy will always be on the
website and on the outside display board. We are trying to do our bit for the
environment!
Thank you to all our parents who returned questionnaires, from those
received, 96% would recommend our school to other parents and the majority
are happy with how their children have settled into school, communication
between home and school and the learning their children are involved with at
school. Areas of concern were:
 Lack of outdoor space – we appreciate this is not as we would like,
from the Spring term we will be able to take our children across to the
park for short periods and once on the new site, there will be more
space!
 Parents evenings – a few parents have requested weekly parents
evenings, as you can appreciate this would be quite difficult with all the
commitments of school life. We hope to increase parent ‘drop ins
‘during the Spring term as this has been popular this term and
requested by a few of our parents. Mrs. Jones has also sent out some
information about ‘Tapestry’ and how you can access information
about your child’s progress. A link to this can be found on the website.
 Text messaging and increased communication between home and
school – Thank you for the suggestions about text messaging services,
it’s definitely on our plan for next year. As you will appreciate, with a
small school comes a small budget and we have had to prioritize our
spend for this year. We want to continue to improve our communication
with home and would welcome your suggestions for this.
We really appreciate your continued support to improve all learning
opportunities for our children. If you are unhappy about how your child has
settled into school or have concerns you would like to discuss please come in
and see us.
The next ‘Tea and Toast’ will be on Monday 30th November between 9.00am
and 10.00am.
All lunch order forms can now be found on the school website, a copy of the
school menu is there too. Vegetarian options are highlighted. These can
either be printed off and returned to school or emailed directly to the school
office on: office@civitasacdemy.co.uk
Mrs. Godfrey – Sadly Mrs. Godfrey will be leaving us at the end of term. Mrs.
Godfrey has played an instrumental role in setting up the school and has
worked hard to ensure our children are happy and settled in their school life.
We wish her happiness in the next stage of her journey to become a teacher.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS – From January we are asking parents who may have
some extra time to support us with a reading programme we want to begin.
Before this can start we will need you to attend a reading and phonics
training session. This will be held on Friday 11th December between 9.00am
and 10.00am with Mrs Louisa Jones. If you are interested in this please let the
office team know.
Star of the Week
RB – Emmanuel – For trying his best in all activities.
RS – Aleksander – For great improvement in writing and phonics.
Well done, great achievements for stars of the week.
Congratulations to BLUE House for earning the most points last week.
Just a few reminders:

Friday 18th December is ‘Winter Jumper Day’ we would like to
contribute to ‘Save the Children’ if you would like to support us with
this, children can wear ‘Winter jumpers’ to school that day and make a
suggested donation of a £1.
 The last day for After school club this term is Thursday 17th December
Warm wishes,
