2.) Red Card/Green Card Directions for everyone – VERY IMPORTANT
- Even during drills, these procedures will now be followed in order to practice for a real emergency
- The following details will describe situations where you would hold up a red card or a green card
Red card- if you have any students that are not on your homeroom roster (the list you see when you do your
daily attendance), or if you are missing any students that are on your homeroom roster
o Students are out of your classroom receiving services, i.e. speech, O.T., Title I, ELL, etc.
o You are a related services teacher and you have students with you
o Your students (and any staff) are at a special area and you are on your prep
o You are a special area teacher with students (and any staff) in your classroom
o You are a teacher who has inclusion students (and staff) in your classroom (only partial day, does not
include LRC rooms)
o You are a teacher who has students and staff out for inclusion
Green Card
o Students are absent- they are considered accounted for
o You do not have any students or staff out of your classroom
o You do not have any students with you who are not on your homeroom roster
If you are holding up a red card, you must wait for a crisis team helper to locate your missing students by
bringing them back to your class or by getting confirmation on their location over the radio.
If your class is with a special area teacher and you can easily go to your class, do so that way both cards can
flip to green.
3.) Please make sure all students are standing quietly while they wait in line. Quiet is of the utmost importance
during a drill so that everyone can hear any directions that are given.
4.) Wait until you hear “ALL CLEAR, MONTH, DATE, AND YEAR” before returning to normal activities.
Directions for EVACUATION/CODE YELLOW are similar, except we will ALL meet by the fence in front of
the building, next to Spruce Avenue, in order to evacuate the premises
