Advanced Health Seminar
Advanced Health Seminar is a clinical specialty option that provides an individualized learning
experience for students who desire an in-depth study in at least one occupational area in the
health science cluster. Students who have successfully completed Foundations of Health Science,
Advanced Principles of Health Science and Clinical Specialty I may select a health topic for
intensive research during Advanced Health Seminar. The Seminar provides rigorous learning
experiences whereby students select an area of interest, conduct in-depth research and
demonstrate problem-solving, decision-making and independent learning skills. During the
project, students work with the Health Science Education teacher, academic teachers and
industry mentors who have expertise in the student's chosen field of study. HOSA membership
provides avenues for applying leadership skills, reinforcing writing and speaking skills and
participating in volunteer activities.
