Updates:
1) Liga - Reference meetings
Liga has been convening regular reference meetings - discuss new purchases, new equipment &
software, new class assignments student projects, etc
working with desk students - matched reference librarians with the new service desk students
=service desk student supervisors now have gov docs project
decisions:
- we will purchase pubs for pharmacy students on rotation, faculty, and preceptors.
- Set up process for reviewing expensive reference books
- Discussed DVD reserve check out to let students take reserve DVDs out of the building
- made decisions on database withdrawals
Met with Dan and Andrew
-renewed libraryh3lp license
-discussed database redirects and unified library feedback pages
-Dan will create a web page with non-proxy databases
2) Kris - ILL usage
- Kris handed out statistics: GetItNow usage is almost up X2 in TYD stats
- Discussion of GetItNow (what it is, the advantages)
Reminder: Survey of ILL users (19 responses to date; encourage faculty and staff who use it to take it)
3) Instruction a) Carrie - FYS activities
47 sections: 40 scheduled; 14 sections have asked for multiple sections (quality over quantity!)
10 faculty partners - each works with a different Library faculty
- ILA/ACRL collaboration
- Newly revised rubric
b) Marcia, Carrie, Karl, Bruce - Instruction plans for Jterm and Spring 2014
Jterm - Carrie, Bruce (Bruce's is for FY students only)
Spring - Carrie, Karl (2 sections); Marcia doing Engaged Citizen course
FYS observations (all Library faculty are observing at least one other session)

Working with old "guidelines" - goal of participation
Developing University Record Retention procedures/policies
5) Resource Promotion Textbook alternatives ( http://researchguides.drake.edu/textbooks ) - Bruce
Has talked to CBPA (with Carrie) and CPHS Faculty (with Priya)
6) Gov docs (Liga, Karen)
Student Supervisors - Inventoried 3500 documents
Liga is listing them; some are being asked for by other repositories
Working with Laura to ensure catalog accuracy
7) Need to get back to: Resource Promotion (in a larger sense), and OpenAccess Promotion - Bruce will
convene each of these in next two weeks
8) Some stats - Karen, Bruce
Karen: Usage up (by about 15% of entries), seating down
Bruce: Browsing - Two-thirds are checked out currently!
9) Announcement:
Kathy: First archives researcher - William Henry Keating; BOT and other tours
10) A plea to help Mark de-accession for the next two days; wear your "casual" clothes!
