The Board effectiveness has been evaluated and discussed
by Board and key staff members.
The Board, Executive Director (ED), and staff know the
organization’s mission, understand it, and are committed in
achieving it.
The Board, ED, and senior staff members has shaped a
strategic plan that reflects the mission and goals of the
organization.
The ED has the knowledge and skills to effectively manage
the organization’s mission, resources, and staff.
The Board delegates the operation of the organizations to the
Executive Director.
The Board has reviewed and evaluated the ED’s
performance and provided useful feedback.
The Board meetings are an effective and efficient means of
handling formal business; an agenda is set; and meeting
minutes are recorded.
By-laws are followed by the Board of Directors that includes
policies and procedures on board recruitment, term
limitations, legal and financial oversight, and the
organization’s operations.
Strategic planning has been conducted or scheduled to be
conducted on a regular schedule (e.g. annually, every three
years, etc) with the participation of Board, staff and
stakeholders.

Human Resources: Volunteer Management
The organization has a recruitment system for volunteer
personnel.
A volunteer orientation system is conducted periodically to
convey, vision, mission, duties.

All personnel policies are developed to convey termination
procedures, grievance procedures, sexual harassment policy,
and employment benefit policies and other relevant policies
and are written in a handbook and distributed to each staff
person.
Performance appraisal system for staff review is developed
and implemented periodically.
Professional development plans for staff is developed and
implemented.
The ED or supervisory staff has developed written job
descriptions for each staff person.
Financial Management System
The board has adopted fiscal policies and procedures.
Organization prepares an annual report of its financial
position that is available to the public.
Financial procedures and internal controls are developed and
implemented to manage resources, i.e. in-kind donations,
financial resources, volunteer hours.
The organization has developed and implemented an internal
accounting system.

budget that includes program operations, general operating,
and revenue development activities.

The organization has a disaster recovery plan in case you
