Early Settlement Groups of Louisiana Informational Brochure Group
Project
Each group will be assigned one of the early settlement groups of Louisiana to create an informational brochure on their cultural
contributions and present a cultural artifact to the class.
*You will present the brochure and your choice of artifact in class on Friday, September 25 th.
Please be sure to follow the directions carefully in order to receive full credit on this assignment.
Your tri-fold brochure will need to include ALL of the following components to receive full credit:

On this section, you must include a detailed, shaded, and accurate route on a world map charting your assigned
settlement group’s journey from their country/ region of origin TO their new settlement area in Louisiana.





DESCRIPTION/ EXPLANATION of the CULTURAL ARTIFACT your group will be presenting: (FOURTH SECTION OF TRIFOLD BROCHURE)***Your group will be responsible for bringing and presenting one of the following cultural artifacts in class on FRIDAY,
SEPTEMBER 25th:***
1. A video example of original, cultural music from your settlement group. Your video must depict all traditional instruments
and lyrics.
2. A visual example of original artwork from your settlement group- this could be a picture of original, cultural artwork, a video
of a cultural dance, or a copy of
any original, cultural piece of literature. Your presentation must include the artwork’s artist or author and include how it is
culturally significant within your
assigned settlement group and our state.
3. An example of cultural cuisine from your assigned settlement group. Please remember to include the dish’s origin,
ingredients, and preparation details- a recipe
card may be helpful. If you bring food to present on Friday, you must bring enough for everyone in the class to sample it!!!

