HEADTEACHER’S WEEKLY NEWS
Week ending: Friday 27th November 2015
HANSEL AND GRETEL PANTOMIME
Thank you to all those parents who have responded to my request for sending reply slips back for the
pantomime on December 10th. Whilst I do appreciate it is an additional cost at an already expensive time
of year it is always a wonderful experience for the children and the only trip we do as a whole school. I
do also understand that some of you have concerns about your children being scared by the characters
in the story, but from past experience, once they are there they get immersed in the atmosphere and it is
not usually a problem. Staff are fully aware of any sensitive children and will make sure they are well
looked after. If you do not want your child to attend then they will be expected to stay in school with me
for the afternoon and not go home. It IS still a school day and we are working hard to ensure our
attendance target is met. We may have to consider whether or not we book the pantomime next year as
a growing number of families are choosing to opt out.
GOODBYES
Mrs Osborne leaves us today to go on maternity leave ready for her baby’s arrival in January. Once the
baby has safely arrived we will organise a collection from the school.
Mrs Price will be leaving us on Friday 4th December. Parents are reminded that if you would like to
donate to her leaving gift from the school please send your contribution to the school office in an
envelope marked “Mrs Price” by next Wednesday.
CHRISTMAS DECORATION MORNING
Thank you to all those parents who came in and helped today, it was lovely to see so many of you. We
will be decorating the hall next week and putting our Christmas tree up. Thank you to the PTA for buying
the tree for us.
PTA AGM
Thank you to those parents who attended the AGM on Monday. Minutes of the meeting should have
been sent home. I would like to say a big thank you to last year’s committee members for all their hard
work and urge you to all carrying on supporting the new committee for the year ahead. Due to
everyone’s hard work we will be able to buy our first fifteen iPads soon.
PARENTS’ EVENINGS
We are holding this term’s parents’ consultation evening on Monday 30th November and Tuesday 1st
December. Staff wanted to leave it until later in the term so that they have had a longer time to get to
know the children and share progress made so far this term. Unfortunately staff will be unable to give
appointments to those families who are on holiday on those days. As you will appreciate it is a busy time
of year and staff will be working hard to prepare for the Christmas play the following week.
