Running a proprietary business of manufacturing Hosiery Gloves in one of the western suburb
in Mumbai – Kandiwali. A production house with 10 full paid employees and around 20-25
contract job workers to stich gloves.
The job involved me into various aspects of business like Procurement of Raw Material,
Finance, Banking, Sales and Marketing, Managing workforce, new product development, Up
gradation of machine. Our factory was equipped with Die cut and Press machine to cut the
cloth with uniformity in pattern as required.
We catered to companies like Pharma, Dairy, Catering, Abrasive manufacturer, Engineering,
Electronics Industries.The business was done with direct marketing and through Dealers of
India. Hosiery glove had a stagnant growth and which were widely replaced by new innovative
glove i.e. coated with polymers like nitrile, latex PVC etc. Even fully automatic machine knitted
gloves were tough competition to sustain in business.
Manufacturing business requires infusion on larger capital in upgradation of machinery to meet
future challenges of innovation and requirement. Hence due to lack of finance and labor issue
we had to wind up business in year 2004.
