DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO RECEIVE SCHOOL MILK?

Why do we wish to serve milk at Caldew Lea School?
When they are young children’s bones, teeth and growth are all affected by what they eat. Milk is a body building
food and it also contains calcium and vitamins which are needed for healthy bones and teeth.

What does the school milk scheme at Caldew Lea involve?
Children can have a carton of milk every day. Parents pay in advance for the term. The milk is delivered in special
cool boxes and is stored in a fridge so it is always served cold.

Where does the milk come from?
It comes from local farms in Cumbria and is distributed by North Lakes Foods. It is semi-skimmed milk and it is of
course pasteurised and has undergone all the necessary health and safety checks.

Does your child currently receive FREE school meals or UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL
MEALS?
If your child is currently entitled to and receives free school meals or is entitled to Universal Free School Meals (all
children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) they can now receive milk FREE if they wish.

How much does it cost/ How do I pay?
If your child is not entitled to receive milk free the total cost for the term is £11. Please fill in the slip below and send
the exact cash if possible or if you prefer by a cheque payable to “Cumbria County Council” in a sealed money
pocket envelope which you can get from the office, by 9.30AM THURSDAY 18TH DECEMBER 2014. Milk will
start for your child on TUESDAY 6TH JANUARY 2015 and continue until FRIDAY 27TH MARCH 2015.

What would happen if my child was absent from school or my child wants to stop receiving
milk?
Unfortunately no refunds can be given as this would involve too much administrative work. Again, once the payment
has been made it is not possible to make refunds.

Do you want your child to receive milk commencing TUESDAY 6TH JANUARY 2015?
If the answer is yes, please complete the slip below, put it in an envelope marked School Milk together with the £11
(if applicable) and return it to school no later than 9.30AM THURSDAY 18TH DECEMBER 2014.
WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY ORDERS AFTER THIS DATE AS THE MILK HAS
TO BE PRE-ORDERED.
