RAGS TO RICHES
INITIATIVE
Through SHAWCO’S RAGS TO RICHES you are supporting our mission to send a
learner to varsity!
This is how it works:
 You can drop off old clothes, shoes and any other reusable items into the
RAGS 2 RICHES bins.
 SHAWCO then resells the clothes to unemployed women in the townships at
the lowest bulk prices. They in turn resell the clothes at a nominal profit =
entrepreneurship.
 A percentage of the profit from these sales will be retained by SHAWCO, to
sustain educational programmes in developing communities.
 A child from a disadvantaged background is identified to go to varsity, and,
the surplus retained is used to pay the fees for the child.
This way, your rags will bring riches to both the unemployed women as well as
SHAWCO’s aspiring learners!
