MARKETING EXECUTIVE
We are recruiting for a Marketing Executive specialising in Digital and New Media Marketing on a
temporary full-time basis (approx. 1 year - maternity cover).
The overall responsibility of this role is to implement and execute Down Royal’s marketing strategy
including a digital marketing strategy, to optimise and develop both Down Royal Racecourse offline
and online presence.
The successful candidate will plan and implement an offline strategic marketing strategy for Down
Royal Racecourse and all relevant third parties involved at the racecourse and undertake all work
necessary to deliver this strategy. You will have hands-on experience of a wide range of marketing
tools, be self-motivated, capable of self-management as well as being able to work as part of a small
team. In addition, you will also have experience of dealing with a range of suppliers and the media,
forming effective partnerships.
The candidate must ensure cohesion between all digital and offline marketing content to further the
promotion of the Down Royal Racecourse brand.
Other essential elements of the role will include management of the content across the website and
delivery of effective online campaigns using Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), social media and emarketing. You will develop social media platforms to increase traffic to the site, as well as
monitoring usage and success levels of the digital marketing via analytical tools.
Creative skills will be essential to your success, as will a strong understanding of SEO and Google
analytics, and enthusiasm for social media. The successful candidate should have commercial
experience within a digital marketing role and need to be comfortable with generating email
campaigns, database management and affiliate programmes.
Role & responsibilities - Offline:



To create marketing strategies and campaigns for Down Royal Racecourse and any relevant
third parties and undertake all duties necessary to deliver such strategies and marketing
objectives.
To case manage and take responsibility for the overall marketing of the Racecourse,
managing and delivering all aspects of its marketing requirements and building excellent
client relations.
Plan and co-ordinate, liaising with suppliers, to deliver marketing and promotional material
to deadlines.





Draft and issue press releases, features and editorials for clients as needed, ensuring that
they are written in a professional manner and to meet relevant deadlines, liaising with the
client and with any third parties, arranging and attending photo-calls as needed.
Liaise with the media to secure a range of opportunities for clients including competitions,
reader offers and incentives.
Measuring and analysing activity against targets and building on success of activities.
Where appropriate, with other staff, or individually, manage/attend events as a
representative of Down Royal Racecourse to build contacts.
Press cutting, monitoring and building media lists for Down Royal Racecourse and all
relevant third parties.
Role & responsibilities - Online:














Implement our online marketing and sales strategy ensuring effective and cohesive delivery
of on-line activities.
Maintain the integrity, consistency and presentation of the company website, online
marketing campaigns and social media forums.
Ensure that the website is informative, relevant and up to date at all times. This will include
developing plans in association with the General Manager and the Hospitality Manager.
Maintain and proactively grow the existing online customer database.
Ensure any multi-media content is engaging, appropriate and permissible for use by Down
Royal Racecourse.
Carry out email marketing campaigns which will include creating graphics / templates, copy
writing, and developing and maintaining databases.
Drive the continuous update of our online activity ensuring that the content is of a high
quality and meets the needs of our racegoers.
Maximise promotion by ensuring that digital activity is integrated into offline campaign
activity.
Interact with customers as required.
Develop relationships and links with other websites belonging to related companies and
organisations to help drive visitors to the Down Royal website.
Develop content required for Down Royal Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest social media sites
and ensure any negative feedback is highlighted to ensure appropriate responses.
Analyse and regularly report on on-line customer activity. Use the data gathered to further
improve digital marketing strategy. Provide on-going monthly reports for all digital elements
that show website visits, database numbers and all other KPI's as directed. Establish traffic
reports, analyse trends and production from all business streams.
Design marketing material required (including presentations, pitches, adverts & POS
materials).
As required provide assistance to the Hospitality Manager in the promotion, execution and
implementation of all events.
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications required for the position:
Essential







3 years working in a digital marketing / e-commerce role.
Strong general marketing, digital marketing & IT skills (to include competency in Excel).
Exceptional communication skills are required with the ability to express information in a
clear and concise manner.
Excellent working knowledge of up-to-date marketing strategies, the Internet, Social Media
and e-marketing.
Proven ability to deliver effective digital programmes and initiatives.
Proven experience at delivering projects, on time and within budget.
Must be prepared to keep up-to-date with new innovations in the digital marketing /IT
fields.
Desirable
 English A-level or equivalent desirable.
 Marketing / IT degree or equivalent desirable.
 Knowledge of the racing industry.
