QParks Freeski Tourstop in Italian style: La Freestyla in the Snowpark Alta Badia
On March 31st, 2012, the second last stop of the QParks Tour, “La Freestyla”, passed off in
the Snowpark Alta Badia. Thrilling international battles between the Italian locals and the
challengers from Austria and Germany provided for pure entertainment!
On March 31st, 2012, motivated freeskiers gathered for the “La Freestyla” contest in the Snowpark
Alta Badia to collect the last important points for the QParks Tour finals. At bright sunshine, the battle
between the Italian riders and their challengers from Austria and Germany was on! Thanks to the
shape crew around park designer Renilla Margreiter, the setup in the Snowpark Alta Badia looked
perfect despite the spring-like temperatures. The riders could show their best tricks on a Flat/Down
Rail with 8 meters, 3 Kickers with a Medium and Pro jump and a Wallride-Corner
combination as end-section. Unfortunately the wind gusts got stronger and stronger during the
finals. In order to ensure the safety of the riders, the finals were cancelled in consultation with all
parties involved. However, the good mood among all riders didn’t fade away because of the prize
giving ceremony, which was carried out in the “Ciampai” lodge with relaxing beats, chilled drinks and
bright sunshine.
In the category Freeski Men, the German Torge Nagel was glad about the prize money of 700€ and
Arianna Tricomi from Italy won the Ladies category. The Freeski rookie Daniel Walchhofer (AUT)
turned out 1st in his category and Fabian Braitsch (AUT) performed the best trick with a Switch
Right-side 900. The riders were delighted about prize money of a total 1.500€ as well as nice goodies
from SKI PEPPI, TSG, amplify and QParks.
But let’s see what local freeskier Ariana Tricomi has to say about her victory at the “La Freestyla”
contest: „I did 3 different grabs on 3 different kickers. First and foremost, I’ve tried to make my tricks
stylish and clean and to have fun – and we’ve had a lot of fun! It was the perfect day for the end of
the season. It was awesome to win on my home mountain, in the Snowpark Alta Badia.
In the snowboarders’ categorie, another local and friend of mine managed to secure the victory,
which gave me great pleasure! We’re on the road a lot, of course, but for me, the park is one of the
best yet, it’s just great and a lot of fun.”
After a nice day on the mountain, the party went on in the valley. In Corvara, the riders, the event
crew and the friends, who had travelled along, partying until late at night!
It’s all about style and being popular!
