Dear Parents and Carers,
Christmas Cards
As fundraising for school funds, primary
children have designed Christmas cards.
They should have brought home their designs
today along with an order form. Their design
can be reproduced onto cards and gift tags
for you to buy and we expect these to be with
you in plenty of time to post them overseas
for Christmas. If you do wish to order packs
of cards with your child’s design, please
complete the order form and return it with
your payment to school by Friday 25th
September.
If any secondary pupils would like to design a
card in their own time, they are welcome to
do so. They should then ask Miss Tompsett
for an order form early next week so you can
get your order in by Friday.
Primary Assembly
Middle 2 children will be presenting assembly
on Thursday morning (24th September) at
8:45. Parents are welcome to join us for this
assembly.
Primary Parents Evening
Primary parents evenings are being held next
week. If you have not yet booked an
appointment with your child’s teacher, please
make sure you do return your slip early next
week. Alternatively, pop a message in their
message book or diary to let their teacher
know which time is best for you.
Wednesday – 3-5pm
Thursday – 5-7pm
World Maths Day
World Maths Day this year takes place on
14th October, during our half term holiday.
Children are invited to participate in this
online game on this day. School will be open
from 9am – 2pm just for children to come up
to ICT2 and play on the World Maths Day
game. We will have juice and snacks
available, but if children are here over lunch
time, they should bring a packed lunch with
them.
If your child would like to do this, they should
sign up for the time that they would like to be
in school to ‘book’ a computer.
RAF Typhoon Visit
Primary Pupils have been invited to see the
RAF Typhoons on Wednesday 23rd
September. We would like to make the most
of this opportunity and we hope to be able to
take all pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 out to
the airhead between 1pm and 2:45pm.
Please ensure that your child has a water
bottle on the day and sun cream in their bag.
LS children may book for 1 hour.
MS and Secondary children for a maximum of
3 hours.
All children will have a logon for the website,
although we appreciate that the cost of the
internet may mean that they are not able to
access this from home.
We are awaiting a confirmation on how many
children the RAF can accommodate, but will
confirm the trip for each class by Tuesday. If
you have any questions about the visit,
please contact Miss Tompsett.

Takeaway Homework is really taking off!
The concept of pupils picking their own
homework from a
given “Menu” is really
taking off with our year
7
and 8 pupils.
Already this half-term
we have received
several
excellent
models
for
Geography, cheese biscuits in the shape of
the continents, a clay model of a uterus and a
cake! It’s great to see that staff and pupil are
embracing the latest theories and ideas about
education!

Fact of the Week
Year 7 Visit from the Midwife
Life expectancy in the Western world is 74
years old; therefore the real middle age is 37
years old…
As part of their Human Reproduction studies
Year 7 Science pupils will have a visit from
the midwife in their science lesson. The talk
will involve watching a short educational
video, which will include a birth. This video
has been sanctioned for use for educational
purposes, but if you do have any concerns,
please feel free to contact Mrs Wade before
Wednesday.
Wishing you all the best for the coming week,
Patricia Babin
Headteacher
Whilst the midwife is at school she is also
going to take the opportunity to have a talk
about periods/ “becoming a woman” with the
year 7 girls in form time.
