Summary

A full time faculty member at Roseman University is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, of classroom instruction and related activities. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend as required. At a minimum, the related activities include classroom instruction, student remediation, and committee service. Participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations is also expected. A faculty member performs all other duties as directed by the President, Chancellor, Pharmacy College Dean, Utah Campus

Dean, Associate Dean(s), Assistant Dean(s), or any designated individual serving in an appropriately identified supervisory capacity for a particular activity.

Responsibilities

At a minimum, the essential functions of the instructor are:

Coordinate, plan, organize, and instruct courses in the day, evening, or on weekends on any

Roseman University campus as assigned;

Keep active at a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulate enthusiasm for those subjects;

Ensure that each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency;

Recommend textbooks and other instructional materials including classroom and laboratory equipment to the College Dean;

A ssist in the college’s library collection development by selecting, evaluating, and weeding library resources in each appropriate discipline;

Teach all classes/blocks according to an approved course syllabus;

Keep students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements;

Keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work;

Conduct student evaluations and complete other college evaluations in accordance with college policy;

Ensure that assigned classes/blocks and student performance evaluations are held as scheduled;

Make suggestions to the Dean concerning the improvement of the curriculum in keeping with the objectives of the college;

Participate in program and curriculum review and development and student learning outcomes initiatives;

Plan each unit or lesson, both as to content and method, to make each class minute meaningful;

Organize each course taught into an effective instrument of learning;

Study and utilize students' learning styles in each class in order to facilitate the best teaching and learning situations;

Incorporate instructional technologies in instructional delivery;

Maximize the learning opportunities for each student;

Keep informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction via professional development activities;

Demonstrate a genuine concern for each student through personal conferences

Assist in recruitment and retention of students;

Be available to conference with students during regular working hours and other times as scheduled;

Strive for the qualities delineated in the criteria for faculty evaluation used by the college;

Refer students to appropriate counselors as needed;

Submit required reports to the appropriate college personnel;

Attend all faculty meetings, open forums, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Chancellor, College Dean, Utah Campus Dean;

Become thoroughly familiar and comply with all university and college policies and procedures;

Serve on and provide information to college committees as needed;

Be actively involved in the co-curricular activities of the college and university;

Convey college and university related information to students in a timely manner as requested;

Other related duties, as assigned.

Education/Training

PharmD with residency and/or fellowship training (or equivalent training) and must be eligible for licensure in Utah at the time of application and receive licensure within 3 months of hire.

Work Conditions

Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Work is primarily indoors, but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between local campus buildings, off campus, and to other Roseman University facilities out-of-state.

Performing duties and attending events outside the normally scheduled work hours occasionally occurs and is required.

Traveling off-campus to a local, state, regional and/or national event, as well as travel to other

Roseman campuses or facilities occurs occasionally and is required.

Incumbent may be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones, office machines, and nearby oral communications among University personnel and/or students.

Required Physical Abilities

Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.

Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.

Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, hand-written forms, and printed on paper.

Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.

Ability to lift and carry a stack of forms and documents weighing up to 25 pounds.
