Executive Staff Position Descriptions
25.3. Chief of Staff
25.3.1. Reports to the President
25.3.2. Facilitate the Student Government Association operations by managing and arranging:
executive staff workload, reservations for rooms and tables for all events, transportation
arrangements, lodging arrangements, office supplies, all scheduling (including office hours of the
staff), and any other logistical matters
25.3.3. Ensure that the agenda set by the President and Vice President is carried out
25.3.4. Serve as the Student Government Association treasurer by managing the Student Government
Association internal budget and SFO account, payroll, and to write and
submit to the Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee each fiscal years budgets
25.3.5. Serve as a resource to all Executives in the fulfillment of their respective job duties and
responsibilities
25.3.6. Ensure that tasks and projects assigned to the Executive Staff are completed efficiently and in
a matter that best represents the Student Government Association
25.3.7. Conduct Executive Staff performance evaluations
25.3.8. Meet regularly one-on-one with the Executive Staff to address any needs
25.3.9. Manage the Student Government Association office
25.3.9.1. Greet and assist students who enter the Student Government Association office
25.3.10. Chair the Constitutional Review committee, and update the Student Government
Association Constitution and Bylaws as directed by that committee and the Student Government
Association Senate
25.3.11. Attend Rules Committee, the Student Government Association Senate, and the Executive
Staff meetings
25.4. Budget Director
25.4.1. Reports to the President
25.4.2. Chair the Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee
25.4.2.1. Recruit and train the Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee members
25.4.3. Implement and enforce Student Government Association fiscal policy
25.4.4. Responsible for overseeing all Student Government Association funded accounts
25.4.5. Train and assist student organization treasurers on the budget process
25.4.5.1. Provide any further educational sessions on segregated fees as requested
25.4.6. Serve, in conjunction with the Student Government Association Account, as the comptroller
for segregated fees
25.4.7. Serve as the interpreter of financial decisions made by the Student Government Association
Senate and the President
25.4.8. Form a working relationship with the Division of Business Affairs
25.4.9. Manage the budget office, including making sure any financial forms and information are
readily available
25.4.10. Attend the Student Government Association Senate and the Executive Staff meetings
25.5. Communications and Public Relations Director
25.5.1. Reports to the Chief of Staff
25.5.2. Leads the Communication and Public Relations Marketing Team
25.5.3. Actively promote student understanding of, and participation in the Student Government
Association
25.5.4. Serve as the Student Government Association’s media relations coordinator
25.5.4.1. Inform campus and local media concerning the Student Government Association events,
news, decisions, and policy
25.5.5. Plan and run the Student Government Association radio show
25.5.6. Facilitate the Directors’ programming and outreach
25.5.7. Coordinate, develop, and maintain the Student Government Association’s social media
presence
25.5.8. Implement and enforce the Student Government Association communications policy
25.5.9. Form a working relationship with the Office of University Relations and Communications
25.5.10. Be a part of a communications team with the Graphic Designer & Web Weaver and Intern
25.5.10.1. Develop an annual marketing plan
25.5.10.2. Manage the Student Government Association brand
25.5.11. Produce a regular newsletter
25.5.12. Attend the Student Government Association Senate and the Executive Staff meetings
25.6. Environmental and Sustainability Director
25.6.1. Reports to the Chief of Staff
25.6.2. Chair the Environmental and Sustainability Committee and the Green Fund Steering
Committee
25.6.3. Proactively address environmental and sustainability concerns and policy issues
25.6.4. Develop relationships with and meet regularly with leaders from all the environmental and
sustainability related student organizations
25.6.5. Develop a working relationship with the Campus Sustainability Coordinator, and other
related environmental and sustainability offices
25.6.6. Outreach to and recruit students to participate in environmental and sustainability issues and
the Green Fund process
25.6.7. Manage the Green Fund, as outlined in the Green Fund bylaws
25.6.8. Attend, as often as possible, environmental and sustainability student organization’s events,
meetings, and programs
25.6.9. Manage the Student Government Association bike rental program
25.6.10. When delegated, serve as the Vice President’s appointee on University environmental and
sustainability committees, task forces, and work groups
25.6.11. Attend the Student Government Association Senate and the Executive Staff meetings
25.7. Graphic Designer & Web Weaver
25.7.1. Reports to the Chief of Staff
25.7.2. Be a part of the Communication and Public Relations Marketing Team with the
Communication and Public Relations Director and Intern
25.7.2.1. Develop an annual marketing plan
25.7.3. Manage and create all of the Student Government Association’s graphic designing, images,
and promotional material
25.7.4. Develop, update, and manage the Student Government Association website
25.7.5. Attend the Communication and Public Relations Marketing Team and the Executive Staff
meetings
25.8. Health Services Student Director
25.8.1. Reports to the Chief of Staff
25.8.2. Chair the Student Health Advisory Committee
25.8.3. Develop relationships with and meet regularly with leaders from all the health and wellness
related student organizations
25.8.4. Develop a working relationship with the Director of Student Health Services, Director of
Counseling Services, and other health and wellness professional staff
25.8.5. Actively promote a healthy lifestyle through the 7 dimensions of wellness
25.8.6. Proactively address health and wellness concerns and policy issues
25.8.7. Work with the Director of Student Health Services and the Student Government Association
Budget Director in compiling the annual allocable and non-allocable budget for Student Health
Services
25.8.8. Direct students to the proper outlets to obtain assistance with question related to health,
counseling, wellness, prevention, and safety
25.8.9. Work on all Alcohol and Other Drug (AODA) projects and policy
25.8.10. Work on projects and programming to address student health and wellness needs
25.8.11. Attend, as often as possible, health and wellness student organization’s events, meetings,
and programs
25.8.12. When delegated, serve as the Vice President’s appointee on University health and wellness
committees, task forces, and work groups
25.8.13. Actively recruit students to get involved in the Student Health Advisory Committee
25.8.14. Serve as a voting member on the Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee
25.8.15. Attend the Student Government Association Senate and Executive Staff meetings
25.9. Inclusivity Director
25.9.1. Reports to the Chief of Staff
25.9.2. Chair the Inclusivity Committee
25.9.3. Proactively address inclusivity and diversity concerns, policy issues, or legal issues
25.9.4. Serve as a resource for students with civil rights concerns and incident reports
25.9.5. Develop relationships with and meet regularly with leaders from all the inclusivity and
diversity related student organizations
25.9.6. Promote a broad definition of inclusivity and diversity, to include but limit to race, ethnicity,
religion, sexual orientation, gender, non-traditional students, veterans, and more
25.9.7. Develop a working relationship with the department of Diversity and College Access
25.9.8. Provide leadership to ensure an open and positive environment for all people to flourish in
the University and community
25.9.9. Attend, as often as possible, inclusivity and diversity student organization’s events, meetings,
and programs
25.9.10. Coordinate, provide and promote inclusivity and diversity training for the Student
Government Association and students
25.9.11. When delegated, serve as the Vice President’s appointee on University inclusivity and
diversity committees, task forces, and work groups
25.9.12. Develop programming to promote inclusivity, diversity, and a safe campus as needed
25.9.13. Attend the Student Government Association Senate and the Executive Staff Meetings
25.10. Legislative Affairs Director
25.10.1. Reports to the Chief of Staff
25.10.2. Chair the Legislative Affairs Committee
25.10.3. Serve as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point delegation leader to all state-wide and
national-wide student association conventions and conferences
25.10.4. Actively promote student involvement in, and understanding of, campus, local, state, and
federal legislation
25.10.5. Advocate on behalf of students at the local, state, and federal level
25.10.6. Form working relationships with local and state representatives (e.g. alder people, state
assemblyperson, etc.) and stay in constant contact with them regarding issues that affect University
of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
25.10.7. Form working relationship with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Legislative
Liaison
25.10.8. Manage and promote the Student Government Association Lawyer services
25.10.9. Organize and promote elections of any kind to the student body: Student Government
Association, local, state, and federal
25.10.9.1. Work with registration drives and get out the vote activities
25.10.10. Monitor the news daily about legislative issues and brief the President
25.10.11. Attend the Student Government Association Senate and the Executive Staff Meetings
25.11. Student Life and Academic Affairs Director
25.11.1. Reports to the Chief of Staff
25.11.2. Chair the Student Life and Academic Affairs Committee, and Chair the Parking Advisory
Board
25.11.3. Work with students to address academic and student life concerns and direct them to
appropriate resources
25.11.4. Proactively address policy issues for academics
25.11.5. Work with the Residence Hall Association and the Dining Advisory Board
25.11.6. Develop a working relationship with the Division of Academic Affairs leadership
25.11.7. Collect and publish the professor evaluations
25.11.8. Monitor and be involved in any differential tuition proposal
25.11.9. Work with the Central Wisconsin Apartment Association, the Old Main Neighborhood
Association, local landlords, city officials, and other parties to organize a tenant education campaign
each fall
25.11.9.1. This includes the Living Options Fair in both the fall and the spring
25.11.9.2. Serve as a resource for students with off campus housing questions/concerns
25.11.10. Proactively work on student life policies and concerns that do not necessarily fall into the
categories of the other Executives
25.11.11. Work collaboratively with all the Executives
25.11.12. Coordinate faculty and staff appreciation each Spring
25.11.13. Develop a working relationship with the Dean of Students Office, and other Division of
Student Affairs leadership
25.11.14. When delegated, serve as the Vice President’s appointee on University academic and
student life related committees, task forces, and work groups
25.11.15. Attend the Student Government Association Senate and Executive Staff Meetings
25.12. University Centers Student Director
25.12.1. Reports to the Chief of Staff
25.12.2. Chairs the University Centers Advisory and Policy Board, and Co-Chairs the Policy
Advisory Committee for Student Organizations
25.12.3. Develop a working relationship with University Centers leadership
25.12.4. Responsible for addressing concerns related to the University Centers policy and procedures
25.12.5. Work with the Director of the University Centers and the Student Government Association
Budget Director in compiling the annual allocable and non-allocable budget for the University
Centers
25.12.6. Serve as a voting member of the Segregated Fee Allocation Committee
25.12.7. Work on all student organization policy and procedures
25.12.7.1. Serve as the main Student Government Association contact person for student
organizations’ concerns and questions
25.12.7.2. Actively recruit students to get involved in the University Centers Advisory and Policy
Board and the Policy and Advisory Committee for Student Organizations
25.12.7.3. Report on the actions of the University Centers Advisory and Policy Board and the Policy
and Advisory Committee for Student Organizations General Senate meetings
25.12.8. Attend the Student Government Association Senate and the Executive Staff meetings
