THE WARM UP
The team playing
‘keep-ball’ to
improve their
possession.
Connor about to take
a shot.
James didn’t
quite manage to
save this
Kick Off! Referee blows whistle! Wilmington started with the ball because they were home. There wasn’t really
much action in the first few minutes of this match; until Ravenswood had a break and their rapid No.14, who
was a striker, chased the ball and had a crack. The shot was stopped by the brilliant goalkeeper, James
Boughtflower. James has many clean sheets and barely lets them go past him. The game was flowing a bit but
Ravenswood had more possession and were playing very well up to this point but Wilmington was putting the
pressure onto them.
It was a goal kick and their massive defender swept it across the field and a striker flicked it on. Ryan Frisby
was there to head the ball back. An opposing player headed it back again. Viren stopped this silliness with a
diving header to Taine Bassant and they played from there. FOUL. Ravenswood’s midfielder fouled Max Sheaf
and Max doesn’t like that sort of stuff. Max and that midfielder then had an argument and the ref then called
them both over to calm them down.
Don’t get me wrong, Max is a brilliant midfielder and has star potential. That situation would come back to
bother them in the second half...There wasn’t much to talk about this half; they were both pretty even I have to
say. Sean Dickinson gets subbed and on comes William Searle. William got about 15 minutes of match time.

The referee blew his whistle to signal half time and both teams huddled together to discuss what they need to
do to win for the next half. There weren’t really any easy chances that Wilmington or Ravenswood could have
capitalised on. HALF TIME!
2nd Half! This time, Ravenswood got the first kick of the ball. They hoofed it forward as an attempt to challenge
James but James was fully aware. Goal kick; James passed the ball to Sean and Sean then passed it to Emmanuel
who was down the left flank. This was great play as Ravenswood were now struggling against the 2nd half, alert
Wilmington. Wilmington was gradually getting closer and closer to goal. Max was now on the ball when... FOUL.
Max had fallen but had got straight back up and set himself for the free-kick he was about to take, no matter
what anybody had said or done to him.
The whistle blew to signal that Max could kick the ball and... So close! The ball was heading for the top middle
but Ravenswood’s goalkeeper was also alert and got his finger-tips to that shot. It was heading straight in until
the goalkeeper intercepted it. It then goes out for a corner and they execute the short corner and Connor
Watson, the consistent Captain, acquired the ball from Viren and crossed it in. Ryan got his head to it but the
ball went wide unfortunately; good effort though.
Wilmington’s coach asks the ref if they can stop the game for a substitution. Alfie Shaw comes off for George
Sigley and Taine Bassant gets subbed for Edbert Emeka. Suddenly, GOAL! Tanto Olaofe used his strength to turn
the defender and used placement with his weaker foot! Bottom right corner! He hasn’t scored with his stronger
foot for a while now! Wilmington 1-0 Ravenswood! Up to this point, Ryan Frisby & Harry Jackson defended well
in this match and were the most consistent and composed players in the team in the journalist’s opinion. Out of
the blue, George gets a good chance but... he scuffs it. His head is in his hands in shame. It was a 1v1, him versus
the goalkeeper of Ravenswood and he struggled to keep his cool and skied it.
FULL TIME! Final Score, Wilmington 1-0 Ravenswood. Wilmington was happy about their win against a
good football playing side. Usually, Wilmington would win by a lot so for them to win 1-0 is an achievement for
Ravenswood; they’re lucky they didn’t get harshly beaten but the Kent Cup Champions of 2011/2012. The man
of the match in the journalist’s eyes would probably have to be Harry Jackson because he had to deal with the
monstrous pace and brute strength of their winger. He used his pace well and got stuck in with the tackles. Man
of the Match- Harry Jackson.
