On Saint Patrick’s Day
My 1ºNIJ students organized a cultural quiz, David, the guy with the black
hat, prepared the quiz questions and brought some candy to celebrate
his birthday. Rebeca, the girl in the green T-shirt with the big white slogan
in favour of public education, cut down the shamrocks and gave them out
to her classmates -Shamrocks are essential for any cultural activity related
to St Patrick, and I just made some chocolate candy in case we ran short of
it.
On that day I decided to be the observer, so I sat quietly on a corner and
allowed David to run the class.
The class was organized in 4 teams, each team of about 4 people; and
then David started to read each of the questions, one by one, carefully
and slowly. Once he finished reading each he shouted out “TIME”, and
from then on, each team had to raise their hand when they thought they
had the right answer ready.
I was in charge of deciding whose hand was first up….and as you can
imagine…. There was a general outcry and some serious disputes among
the different members of the teams which questioned the sight and some
of the “unfortunate referee’s “ decisions as to which team was the first to
have their hands up. I tell you no different from any football match.
Nevertheless, it was good fun and we enjoyed the questions, the candy
and Rebecca’s shamrocks.
Here is the quiz in case you wanna to give it a go.
