What is Hyperhidrosis?

Before your treatment:
Hyperhidrosis is a condition that
means the sufferer can experience
excessive sweating. The following
areas can be affected:
If the cause for the hyperhidrosis
can be identified it is known as
secondary hyperhidrosis. Some
examples of this are:
Shave your underarm 2 days
before you have your Botulinum
Toxin treatment.

Under arm (Axilla)
Pregnancy
Do not put on any deodorant on
the day of the procedure.

Palms of hands
Menopause
After your treatment:

Soles of feet
Anxiety

Face and chest
Overactive thyroid
Do not use any deodorant until
the following day.


What is excessive
sweating?
Sweating can be classed as
excessive when it starts to
interfere with your everyday life.
You should see your GP if you
have:
Sudden onset of sweating.
Night sweats.
Primary Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis has two subgroups,
primary and secondary
hyperhidrosis. Primary
hyperhidrosis has no obvious
cause.
Infection
Do not shower/wash the treated
area. Return to your usually
regime the day after treatment.
Low blood sugar
Do not exercise on the day of
treatment.
Treatment with
Botulinum Toxin
You may experience:
Botulinum toxin can be injected
into the skin in the areas of the
body affected by hyperhidrosis.
For treatment of the axilla, around
25 injections will be undertaken
after the underarm area has been
assessed and cleaned.
Treatment will take around 2030minutes.
Discomfort, redness and/or
itching at injection site
Nausea
Headache
Hot flushes
Muscle weakness around
treatment area
Increased sweating in other
