Breakthrough Prayer Life
Bless the LORD
9 “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth
as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven
our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” Matthew 6:9-13,
NIV.
Give small sections of this prayer for people to pray, expanding on the section they read. Then thank
the Lord as a group for the amazing privilege we have in praying to our Father!
Engage the Truth
A. We were designed for communion with God.
Adam and Eve heard God walking in the garden in the cool of the evening… Gen. 3:8
B. Sin moved us “from communion to an arrow prayer lifestyle”.
“Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time people began to call on the name of the
Lord. Gen. 4:26
C. Jesus brings us into a deeper communion than Adam and Eve ever had.
“We have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way
opened for us through the curtain, that is, His Body.” Heb. 10:19
•
What does an “arrow prayer” lifestyle look like to you?
•
What is improved in our relationship with God compared to Adam and Eve?
1. The Power to Receive Heaven’s Power
“…your Kingdom come…” Matt. 6:10a
Because we face impossible tasks…
“Who then can be saved?” Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” Luke
18:26-27
Because we face overwhelming enemies…
“15 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with
horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh, my lord, what shall we do?” the servant asked. 16
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with
them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes so that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the
servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all round Elisha.” 2
Kings 6:15-17

2. The Power to Move Mountains
“21 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what
was done to the fig-tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it
will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”” Matthew 21:21, 22

Share some of the mountains you have seen move in your life.

Share some of the current mountains in your life, and how you are doing in “not doubting”.
3. The Power to Be God’s Temple
“…your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”. Matt. 6:10
“16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the
living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”” 2 Corinthians 6:16
“1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the
train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings
they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they
were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his
glory.”” Isaiah 6:1-3, NIV.
