Newbigging Village is on the A721 East of Carnwath, South Lanarkshire. If Travelling from

right onto the A721 signed Glasgow. Continue through Elsrickle village to reach Newbigging where
you will turn right to the event. Travelling from the west, take the A73 to Carluke and then follow
the A721 signed Peebles. Stay on the A721 through Carnwath and Kaimend and arriving at
Newbigging you will turn left in the village to the event. Competitors travelling from the North East
should be aware that weekend road works at the Forth Road Bridge could cause delays/diversions.
Please check before you set out on your journey.
PARKING AND ASSEMBLY
Parking for both days is along the minor road. Please park as directed as we need to leave regular
gaps to allow locals to pass. It is not anticipated that anyone will need to park more than a few
minutes from the assembly area. Take care when exiting your vehicle and when walking to and from
the assembly. Note that the wood is Out of Bounds. Toilets will be available at assembly. Please
hand any trophies in to registration. There will be limited Entry on the Night and Day, Seniors £9 and
Juniors/Students £5.
NIGHT EVENT - SATURDAY 24 OCTOBER
There is one start for all courses at night and this is approximately 200 m from assembly and should
only be approached via assembly. Start times from 7.00-8.00 pm. Punching starts. Please make your
way to the start area according to the slot you want - early, middle or late.
The finish for all courses is adjacent to the assembly but runners will approach from different
directions so please be careful if you wish to watch for other runners finishing.
After finishing the traditional Tinto Twin Soup will be served in the tent at the assembly area.

PLANNER'S NOTES
Recent felling and preparations for felling mean that some tracks and ditches in the NW corner of
the map have had some work done on them. The ditches that cross the main ride in this area are
deep and wide. The bottom of the ditches are soft - take care. Although not badly affected with
wind-blow, some trees are down. where this causes significant difficulty to movement this has been
mapped.
There is a fair amount of bracken in the area. This is only shown where it would significantly affect
progress. Rabbits present the biggest hazard at Firpark - or rather their holes do! Please take care
throughout the wooded section of the map.
The minor road that bisects the area is quiet but traffic can often travel quickly along this section.
We have "Runners on Road" signs along the road but please take care when crossing.
The house in the middle of the map and some fields are overprinted as Out of Bounds. Please
respect this.
Dogs on a leash in Assembly area only as all courses, Night and Day, have controls in a field with
sheep in it.
A few controls will be padlocked to fence corners etc to ensure their safety. All others are on t-bars.
