Prom
Prom is tomorrow night, and the King City Secondary School staff is pleased to celebrate this occasion with the graduating students on
May 30, 2013 at the Paradise Banquet facility. The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 11:30 p.m. The evening events will
include dinner and dancing.
As school proms approach, the problem of teenage drinking is heightened. At after–prom events, some young people will be tempted
to drink, often with tragic results. As the prom is a school sponsored event, the school’s code of conduct and all York Regions District
School Board’s policies and procedures are in effect during the prom.
Being under the influence and/or in possession of alcohol or illegal substances is not permitted at York Region District School Board
events.
The administration and staff of King City S.S. have not organized nor does it sanction any before or after Prom activities/events.

Events held before or after the prom including all transportation arrangements, have been externally organized. School staff has not
been involved in the planning and will not be supervising or participating in these events.
It is strongly recommended by the School and Board that parents/guardians review with their child all aspects of these events prior to
the prom. This review should include pre and post activities, consumption of alcohol and/or illegal drugs, transportation to and
from the event and appropriate behaviour.
School administration will not be planning, supervising or participating in any activities occurring prior to or following the Prom on
May 30, 2013.
We hope that together we can make this the safest prom season yet.
