Dear Parents,
I can hardly believe there are only two weeks to go until the October half term.
Internet Safety
Last week, Mrs Hawker kindly arranged for Jeff Haslam, e safety consultant, to come and
talk to the pupils about the importance of staying safe online. The talks were very informative
and received well by the pupils.
Football
Last Friday, after school, we hosted a football match against Thomlinson Junior. The pupils
played brilliantly and were the victors 10 goals to 1. Their behaviour, as well as their playing,
was excellent and a credit to the school.
Rugby
Tomorrow a team of players will represent the school in a tag rugby tournament organised
by Silloth Primary School. Good luck to all concerned.
Use of new hall
We are delighted that the new hall is being used to host a Pilates class on a Tuesday from
7.00 p.m. until 8.00 p.m. Please do come along. Karate classes have also started. We hope
other sports organisations also take advantage of the facilities. The hall costs £10.00 / hour
to hire and this can be done through Mrs Simpson. The hall will not be available for
children’s parties.
Halloween
As Halloween nears, Friends of Dearham have kindly organised a Halloween disco on
Tuesday 20th October. They will be sending out details separately.
Friends of Dearham
I would also like to extend a thank you to Victoria Moody who has stood down as Chair of
Friends of Dearham. We welcome Alice Bishop to the role.
Photographs
Advance warning that on Friday 23rd October we will be hosting Tempest photography to
take individual and family photos. More details in the week.
Sensory Room
Many of you will have seen the photograph and article in the Times and Star which marks
the success of the fundraising effort to adapt and equip the sensory room in school. The
£42000 raised is a tremendous effort and I thank each and every one who supported this. An
open day / event to mark the completion of the whole build will be held in the new year.
